In France, at the 2023 Ballon d'Or awards ceremony, Manchester City was voted the best club of the year thanks to having the most male and female nominees, with 10 each.
Seven of the nominees are male players, including Silver Ball winner Erling Haaland, Rodri, Josko Gvardiol, Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias, and Julian Alvarez. Three female players from Man City are nominated: Yui Hasegawa (Japan), Jill Roord (Netherlands), and Khadija Shaw (Jamaica).

Last year, Man City also won the Club of the Year award, having received six Ballon d'Or nominations. "Being recognized as the best club for two consecutive seasons makes us incredibly proud," said Man City's CEO, Ferran Soriano. "The last 12 months have seen us reach new heights after more than a decade of hard work. We're taking a moment to celebrate, but the goal remains the same as always: to continue playing beautiful football and win as many trophies as possible."
The Club of the Year award further embellished the historic 2022-2023 season, when Man City won the treble, including their first Champions League title. The 2022-2023 Premier League title marked the third consecutive win for Pep Guardiola's team, and their fifth in the last six seasons. They then completed a domestic double by beating Man Utd 2-1 in the FA Cup final. Man City also became the second English team to achieve a treble, defeating Inter 1-0 in the Champions League final in Istanbul.
In the 2022-2023 season, Man City scored 150 goals in all competitions, the most in Europe. Striker Erling Haaland won the Gerd Muller Award for scoring 56 goals – the most in world football that season. Ederson finished second in the Yashin Award for best goalkeeper, behind only Emiliano Martinez of Argentina and Aston Villa.

Man City had three players in the top five of the Ballon d'Or awards: Erling Haaland (ranked 2nd), Kevin De Bruyne (4th), and Rodri (5th). The remaining players in the top five were Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi and Bronze Ball winner Kylian Mbappe.
The reigning English champions also have two other players in the top 10: Julian Alvarez (7th) and Bernardo Silva (9th). Defenders Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias are ranked 25th and 30th respectively. Ilkay Gundogan, Manchester City's captain last season who moved to Barcelona this season, is ranked 14th.
