Attending the program were the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee Nguyen Van Phong; the Vice Chairman of the Hanoi City People's Committee Vu Thu Ha; and the Head of UNESCO's Representative Office in Vietnam Jonathan Wallace Baker.

The Capital City Student March is an activity in response to the City's Creative Design Festival and to effectively implement the 2018 General Education Program, while also strengthening aesthetic, ideological, political , moral, lifestyle, and cultural education, meeting the requirements of comprehensive education for students.
The activity also aims to awaken pride, inspire, and motivate generations of Hanoi students to express their patriotism and love for the capital city; to encourage and inspire teachers and administrators to continue striving, innovating, and creating for the cause of education and training, building and developing the capital city and the country, and integrating into the international community.

The "Hanoi Student March" program, organized for the first time by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, attracted nearly 3,000 participants from 47 units representing 30 districts, towns, and cities, as well as several international schools. The program also featured the participation of the Army Ceremonial Band - General Staff, the People's Police Ceremonial Band, students of Vietnamese, Lao, and Cambodian ethnic groups, students from around the world studying in Hanoi, and artists and performers from the capital city. These colorful contributions celebrated the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training and the 42nd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20, 1982 – November 20, 2024).

In his opening remarks, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, Tran The Cuong, shared: “This program is an opportunity for students to interact and learn from international friends and teachers, helping them develop comprehensively; at the same time, it awakens the aspiration for national development and national pride in the generations of students in Hanoi – the future owners, the important force, working together for the development of the thousand-year-old city of culture, the heroic capital; a City for Peace, a Creative City recognized by UNESCO, and aiming towards a Learning City in the global network of cities...”.

Mr. Jonathan Wallace Baker, Head of UNESCO's representative office in Vietnam, expressed his joy and emotion at being present at the event, especially at a time when Hanoi is celebrating the 5th anniversary of becoming the first Vietnamese member of UNESCO's Creative Cities Network.

"As the students march today through the peaceful heart of Hanoi, I hope they will feel proud and appreciate the heritage of their ancestors and their fellow citizens, from all ages and backgrounds. May they hold their heads high, sharing their stories and achievements with international friends about peace, global citizenship, creativity, and, of course, education," expressed Jonathan Wallace Baker, Head of UNESCO Representation in Vietnam.

The trumpets, dances, drum rhythms, songs, and melodies performed by students from the capital city brought many captivating performances to the program, meticulously staged with diverse colors and high artistic quality. Each performance conveyed the students' love and pride for their beautiful homeland and country, showcasing the artistic talents nurtured at their beloved schools – where they study and train every day.
The "Hanoi Student March" parade included 38 groups: the Red Flag team - carrying the National Flag; the Army ceremonial group of the General Staff; the Ministry of Public Security ceremonial group; 30 groups of junior high school students from 30 districts, counties, and towns; a group of 70 female students from Chu Van An High School; a group of ethnic minority students; groups of junior and senior high school students from some international schools; a circus group; a puppet troupe, etc.
The parade was meant to recreate the development journey of the Capital's education and training sector, while also honoring the efforts and contributions of generations of teachers and students over the past 70 years.

As one of the 70 female students from Chu Van An High School participating in the parade, Dang Quynh Phuong, from class 11D2, proudly shared: "I am very happy to participate in the program and have spent about a month practicing with my friends. We consider this a fun experience and also a way to express our gratitude to our teachers on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Hanoi Education and Training sector as well as the 42nd Vietnamese Teachers' Day."
