On December 16th, the Lam Dong Provincial Department of Health reported that, in connection with the suspected food poisoning incident in Phan Thiet ward, the total number of hospitalized cases has continued to rise to approximately 86 after consuming bread purchased from a food cart on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai street.

The suspected cases of food poisoning after eating bread are being treated at the hospital.
According to the Lam Dong Provincial Department of Health, among the cases recorded to date, 24 have been discharged from the hospital, and 62 patients are still receiving treatment at medical facilities with their health condition temporarily stable.
An Phuoc General Hospital alone received the largest number of patients related to the incident, with 45 cases currently hospitalized.
In light of this situation, the Food Safety Department ( Ministry of Health ) has issued a document requesting the Lam Dong Provincial Department of Health to urgently investigate and handle the suspected food poisoning incident.
The agency requested that hospitals focus all available resources on treating patients, ensuring that the health and lives of citizens are not affected.
The Ministry of Health also requested that localities urgently trace the origin of the food, clearly identify the cause of the poisoning; collect food and patient samples for testing, and strictly handle any violations of food safety regulations (if any) and publicly disclose the results to promptly warn the community.
Earlier, on the afternoon of December 15th, the Lam Dong Provincial Department of Health announced that by 4 PM that day, approximately 80 people had been hospitalized suspected of food poisoning after eating bread in Phan Thiet ward.
According to initial epidemiological investigations, these patients ate cold cuts sandwiches from a food cart on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street, Phan Thiet Ward, on the evening of December 12th.
Upon inspection, authorities determined that the owner of the food cart selling bread could not present a business registration certificate or a food safety certificate.
The ingredients used to make the cakes are purchased by the owner from the market without contracts or invoices. Some ingredients, such as pâté, butter, meat, pickles, and sauces, are prepared by the owner at home.
Authorities ordered the facility to temporarily cease operations and simultaneously collected food and biological samples to send to the Pasteur Institute in Nha Trang for testing.
The Lam Dong Provincial Department of Health has requested relevant agencies to investigate and clarify the incident.
