Massive scale

The event, held at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square (Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi), was attended by nearly 200 doctors and medical staff from the Vietnam Young Doctors Association, along with the support of 150 volunteers who are employees and agents of Manulife.

Here, Manulife continued its collaboration with the Vietnam Young Doctors Association to organize free medical examinations for over 3,000 Hanoi residents, including military personnel, demobilized soldiers, students, youth union members, and local workers.

Dr. Doan Van Viet, Director of Hoan Kiem District Health Center, said: “ The 'Healthy Living Every Day' event is one of the few large-scale community health check-up programs organized in Hanoi in 2024.”

Manulife's partnership with the Vietnam Young Doctors Association in bringing this program to the capital city demonstrates a thorough understanding of the local community health situation and its realization through practical events. Through this program, the company and the Young Doctors Association contribute to solving the problem of improving community health, thereby reducing the financial burden on both patients and the local healthcare system .”

With the aforementioned massive scale, Manulife, together with the Vietnam Young Doctors Association, has added a range of medical equipment to best serve the community.

In addition to routine medical examinations such as general internal medicine, cardiology, diabetes, respiratory, and ENT examinations; ultrasound, electrocardiogram, chest X-ray, and bone density measurement; and blood sugar, blood lipid, and uric acid tests for gout patients, people can also be tested for Helicobacter Pylori (HP) bacteria via blood and screened for stomach cancer, breast cancer, and lung cancer as directed by their doctor.

Fulfilling the commitment to invest in the community.

Sharing her thoughts on the expanded scale of the "Healthy Living Every Day" event in Hanoi, Ms. Tina Nguyen – General Director of Manulife Vietnam – said: “ Hanoi is one of the most populous cities in the country. We want to provide even more opportunities for people in the capital to check their own health status.”

Through this initiative, Manulife wishes to fulfill its commitment to investing in the community and hopes to contribute in some way to raising public awareness about health, for a healthier life every day .”

Aiming to provide free health checkups for over 10,000 people in 6 provinces and cities, the "Healthy Living Every Day" event series has passed more than half its planned duration. After two weeks of medical examinations for over 4,600 people in 4 provinces and cities – Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and Da Nang – the program has helped many people detect health conditions in a timely manner, especially those related to the digestive system.

Specifically, according to statistics from the Vietnam Young Doctors Association, the medical team detected 973 cases positive for H. pylori bacteria – one of the main causes of gastritis, stomach ulcers, and stomach cancer.

In addition, 1,585 people were found to have dyslipidemia (33%), 963 people with abnormal blood pressure readings were re-examined with electrocardiograms (20%), 721 people were examined for signs of impaired fasting glucose (15%), 111 had uric acid disorders (0.2%), along with many other medical conditions. The results of this community health check-up helped many people receive timely and appropriate treatment.

Following the event in Hanoi, Manulife will organize a similar event, with 3,000 participants, in Ho Chi Minh City in mid-December, aiming to contribute to improving public health in Ho Chi Minh City.

The "Healthy Living Every Day" series of events is an ongoing activity within the "Live - Clean - Stylish - Green" community program. In Phase I, the program was held in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. In Phase II, in addition to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Manulife expanded the program to Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and Da Nang.

This series of free health check-up programs, along with efforts to promote a healthy lifestyle in the community, helped Manulife Vietnam be honored as one of the "Top 40 Outstanding Businesses in Aligning Business Goals and Social Responsibility" at the Saigon Times CSR 2024 awards ceremony organized by Saigon Economic Magazine last November.
