Martial was released early. |
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Martial and the Mexican club have agreed to part ways after a disappointing season. This decision makes the former Manchester United star a free agent for the third time in his career.
Mexican media revealed that Martial had some problems in his relationship with the coaching staff and club management. This appears to be a major reason leading to the decision to terminate his contract early.
Earlier this year, Martial moved to Monterrey on a two-year contract. However, expectations quickly faded. While playing for the Mexican club, Martial only made 20 appearances, scoring 1 goal and providing 3 assists. His modest performance also partly reflected Monterrey's disappointing season, as the team finished 13th in the league.
At 30, Martial still has the opportunity to find a new club. However, given his performances in recent years, the former Manchester United striker will need to work very hard if he wants to re-establish his reputation.
Martial was once considered one of Europe's brightest talents when he joined Manchester United in 2015. However, a series of injuries and inconsistent form prevented him from reaching his full potential. After nine years with the "Red Devils," the French striker made a total of 317 appearances in all competitions and scored 90 goals before leaving the club in the summer of 2024.
