Mbappe practices to master free kick skills. |
Mbappe is known for his acceleration, cool finishing and consistent scoring. He also regularly takes penalties, but when faced with direct free-kick situations, the former PSG star almost always lets his teammates take them.
That’s slowly changing, however. In a 3-2 win over Leganes on March 30, Mbappe scored from a set piece. Despite some controversy surrounding the ball’s movement before the shot, Mbappe still sees it as a milestone and pledges to continue perfecting the skill.
According to journalist Jose Luis Sanchez on the El Chiringuito program , Real Madrid's coaching staff has been quietly working with Mbappe for more than a month to improve his free-kick ability.
"Internally, Real Madrid want Mbappe to become a free-kick specialist. That's why the coaching team spent more than a month working with him on this skill and the result was proven by the goal against Leganes," Sanchez shared.
Up to now, Mbappe has scored 33 goals for Real Madrid in just his first season with the Spanish Royal team. Under the leadership of Carlo Ancelotti, he is the main spearhead helping Real compete on all three major fronts including La Liga, King's Cup and Champions League.
Adding free-kicks to his arsenal makes Mbappe more complete, while giving Real Madrid another option to break the deadlock in tense matches.
Mbappe scored after a classy free kick. In the early morning of March 30, Mbappe scored in Real Madrid's 3-2 victory over Leganes in round 29 of La Liga.
