According to El Chiringuito , Real Madrid are considering letting Mbappe inherit the legendary number 10 shirt at the Bernabeu. Luka Modric has worn this number since 2017. Prior to that, many famous players such as Mesut Ozil, Luis Figo, Clarence Seedorf, and Michael Laudrup also had the honor of wearing this number.
Currently, Mbappe wears the number 9 shirt, inherited from Karim Benzema. The former PSG star also used to love the number 7 shirt at Bernabeu, previously worn by his idol Cristiano Ronaldo. However, that number is currently used by Vinicius Junior.
Another candidate for the number 10 shirt at Bernabeu is Jude Bellingham. However, the midfielder is content with the number 5 shirt, previously worn by legend Zinedine Zidane.
According to AS , new coach Xabi Alonso sees Mbappe as the centerpiece of his team development plan. In his first season in La Liga, Mbappe displayed impressive form, scoring 43 goals in all competitions, winning both the La Liga top scorer award and the European Golden Boot.
Although he couldn't bring major titles to the team, Mbappe still contributed to Real Madrid winning the European Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup.
Real Madrid have completed the 2024/25 season. The team will rest for a few days before reconvening to prepare for the FIFA Club World Cup in mid-June.
