At the age of “not yet full, not yet worried”, losing a loved one is a pain and loss that is difficult to fill for any child. Therefore, through connections and fundraising, the Women’s Union at all levels in the district have tried to support as much as possible so that the children have a spiritual support.

Women's Union of Phuoc Vinh Dong Commune, Can Giuoc District supports orphans in the Godmother Program

As one of the units with a large number of sponsored children in the district, the President of the Women's Union of Phuoc Vinh Dong commune, Can Giuoc district - Vo Thi Ngoc Huong informed: The association has sponsored 21 orphans (including 1 child in Tan Tap commune orphaned due to the Covid-19 epidemic), of which 8 children are directly sponsored. All funding sources are mainly mobilized. Thereby, contributing to easing the pain, partly sharing and encouraging the children to have conditions to rise up in life.

Tran Thi Yen Loan's family (Dong Binh hamlet) has 5 siblings. Her father passed away due to a serious illness , and her mother left. The Women's Union of Phuoc Vinh Dong commune has been sponsoring her for about 2 years now. Every month, the Union supports her with money and necessities. Loan shared: "Every day, I go to school, cook and teach my younger siblings. With no relatives around, I am very grateful for the support from the Women's Union of the commune, hamlet, and benefactors!"

Responding to the Godmother Program to support, care for, and nurture children in difficult circumstances and orphaned by Covid-19, in recent times, the Women's Union of Can Giuoc district has actively carried out many practical support activities. Thereby, bringing love, creating motivation for children to rise up in life, partly compensating for the lack of family affection for them.

Can Giuoc District summarizes the model of Saving money by raising piggy banks, godmothers for their children

With the motto "Where there are orphans and children in especially difficult circumstances, there are godmothers", the District Women's Union coordinated with the grassroots associations to survey and assess the current situation of orphans and children in difficult circumstances in the area to have the most practical measures to help; at the same time, promote propaganda to raise awareness of orphans and the attention of society to the work of caring for and protecting children, especially orphans.

Chairwoman of the Women’s Union of Can Giuoc District - Huynh Thi Tuyet Hong said that the unfortunate children who lost their parents lack both material and spiritual things. The love, sharing and encouragement of the whole society for these children, no matter how small, is very precious.

Currently, the Women's Union at all levels is sponsoring 29 children orphaned by Covid-19 and 19 other orphans. Thanks to the connection between the Women's Union from the district to the commune and town level with benefactors and the enthusiastic response of the staff and HVPN, from 2021 to now, the Union has presented gifts, scholarships, bicycles, necessities, school supplies, uniforms, ... and more than 1 billion VND in cash to orphans. Not only supporting the children materially, the "godmothers" and the Union at all levels also regularly visit and care about the children's spiritual life and studies.

In addition, to have a stable source of funding to promptly support children when needed, the Association has implemented the model of Saving by raising piggy banks and godmothers for children in 15 communes and towns with 112 members, with a total savings of nearly 400 million VND.

The Godmother Program has gradually brought about effectiveness in promoting internal strength from the positive contributions of CB, HVPN and has spread throughout the community, demonstrating the humanity as well as the role and responsibility of the Women's Union at all levels in caring for and protecting orphans in the district. This companionship will help the children have more determination to overcome difficulties, study and develop in a peaceful and loving environment./.
