Early Tet celebration in Hoa Dien

After more than 7 months of implementation, the 2026 Tet program for military and civilians in Hoa Dien commune – from lighting up rural roads and building new bridges to providing homes of compassion – has contributed to bringing a warm spring early to the people of this rural area.

At the end of the year, we returned to Hoa Dien in the chilly weather. Along the concrete road in Thanh Loi hamlet, the rural road lighting project from the Tet (Lunar New Year) program brought light to every hamlet. Le Hoang Lam, a permanent militia soldier of the Hoa Dien Commune Military Command, recounted in detail the collaborative efforts of officers and soldiers from Regiment 893, the Provincial Military Command, the militia, youth union members, and local people. Everyone pitched in to install streetlights, clear bushes, plant flowerbeds along the road, and contribute labor to build houses and rural bridges… “Contributing our part, everyone is happy when the project is completed. Every time I pass by the houses, roads, and bridges built as part of the Tet program, I feel immense happiness,” Lam shared.

At the Kênh D bridge in Tân Điền hamlet, workers are completing the final stages of construction. In the midday sun, the shirts bearing the words "Huỳnh Văn On Charity Bridge Team" stand out on the construction site. Mr. Nguyễn Minh Phú, a member of the team, said: "Normally, my wages are 350,000 - 400,000 VND, but for building a bridge for the people, I only receive 200,000 VND per day, as a contribution to provide the people with a convenient bridge." Adding to this, Mr. Võ Thanh Tâm said: "Previously, the iron bridge was dilapidated, making travel very difficult. Since the Tet (Lunar New Year) program for the military and civilians, the people, militia, and youth union members have all contributed their labor and effort to complete the bridge as soon as possible."

As is customary, every Tet holiday, the armed forces and all levels and sectors in the province join hands to care for people in remote areas, border regions, former resistance bases, policy beneficiary families, and poor and near-poor households. The Provincial Steering Committee for Military-Civilian Tet Activities selected Hoa Dien commune as the location for the 2026 Military-Civilian Tet program. This is the first locality to implement the program after the merger and implementation of the two-tiered local government model.

According to the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Tet activities between the military and civilians, Le Van Phuoc, this "Effective People's Mobilization" model demonstrates the joint efforts of the entire political system. Through this program, many meaningful activities have been implemented, such as: disseminating the Party and State's policies and guidelines; building and donating houses for comrades, showing solidarity and mutual support, providing homes for farmers, houses of compassion, and Red Cross houses; constructing and repairing rural bridges and roads; visiting and giving gifts to policy beneficiary families, poor and near-poor households; and awarding scholarships to underprivileged students who overcome difficulties… This contributes to improving the material and spiritual lives of the people, creating a joyful atmosphere before the Lunar New Year.

The organization of the 2026 Tet (Lunar New Year) celebration between the military and civilians demonstrates the deep concern of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee for social welfare. Besides decisive leadership and direction, the program received close coordination from all levels, sectors, the Vietnam Fatherland Front , and localities; it leveraged the core role of the provincial armed forces; and it also received significant support from businesses, banks, and philanthropists.

The program's funding mainly came from social contributions, combined with a portion of the operating budget of departments and agencies; and contributions from officials, civil servants, and officers and soldiers of the provincial armed forces, totaling over 8.7 billion VND. From these resources, 48 houses and 4 rural traffic bridges, along with many other practical projects, were completed, bringing an early and warm spring to the people of Hoa Dien.
