"Fat cat" Doraemon dominates Vietnamese cinemas

Just a few days after its release in our country, “Doraemon: Nobita and the Ideal Land in the Sky” has continuously broken box office milestones and surpassed a series of blockbusters from Hollywood.

The film premiered in the summer - a time when the number of moviegoers increased significantly.

According to distributor CJ CGV, the 42nd Doraemon movie has officially become the highest-grossing anime of all time in Vietnam.

Specifically, after 2 days of sneakshow (special screening) and 10 days of official release, Doraemon: Nobita and the Ideal Land in the Sky has earned nearly 60 billion VND with approximately 770 thousand viewers. This achievement helps the work surpass the 25th Conan movie released last year, stepping up to the throne of the Japanese animation genre at the Vietnamese box office.

Notably, Doraemon part 42 took less than 2 weeks to reach this milestone. Immediately after its release in our country, the film surpassed the blockbuster Fast X to lead the box office. Last weekend, the work continued to maintain its top position in the box office rankings despite the appearance of many new competitors.

According to Box Office Vietnam, the revenue of Doraemon: Nobita and the Ideal Land in the Sky is currently 55.4 billion VND (the figures are somewhat different from reality). On the morning of June 5 alone, the film earned nearly 1 billion VND, ahead of Spider-Man: Spider-Verse.

The 42nd Doraemon movie officially became the highest-grossing anime of all time in Vietnam.

Doraemon: Nobita and the Ideal Land in the Sky has completely new content. The story is about Nobita's group of friends traveling together to an ideal kingdom in the sky called Paradapia.

Here, the group meets the perfect cat robot Sonya and explores the "flawless" life here. However, when the secrets behind Paradapia gradually reveal, the group must act together to protect the safety of the whole world .

The project is directed by Doyama Takumi, who previously directed a special episode of Doraemon. Meanwhile, Furusawa Ryota is the scriptwriter. He has written for famous TV series and received many awards throughout his career.
