In the 2025 MLS season, Messi scored 29 goals and provided 20 assists in 28 matches, a performance that put him at the top of the league in both categories. However, ahead of the MLS Cup final against Vancouver on the morning of December 7th, the Florida team still wants to strengthen its attacking firepower.
According to Fichajes and Sky Sports , Inter Miami are seriously considering signing Timo Werner. Reports indicate that Werner's representatives have been in talks with Inter Miami's management. The American team wants to add a fast, game-changing player with international experience, and Werner is a suitable candidate.
Messi is reportedly recommending Werner to his current club. Inter Miami is rebuilding its attacking line, especially as several older key players may leave the team after this season. Therefore, bringing in an experienced striker from Europe is seen as a strategic move.
Werner joined Chelsea in the summer of 2020 but failed to live up to expectations and returned to RB Leipzig in 2022. He was then loaned to Tottenham from January 2024 until the end of the 2024/25 season. Since returning to Leipzig, the German striker has only made one appearance due to injury.
Despite the absence of the 29-year-old striker, Leipzig have had an impressive start to the season and are currently second in the Bundesliga, 8 points behind Bayern Munich.
