Messi wants Inter Miami to sign Werner.

In MLS 2025, Messi scored 29 goals and had 20 assists in 28 games, a record that helped him lead the entire league in both categories. However, before the MLS Cup final against Vancouver in the early morning of December 7, the Florida team still wanted to strengthen their attack.

According to Fichajes and Sky Sports , Inter Miami is seriously considering signing Timo Werner. The report says that Werner's representatives have had meetings with Inter Miami's management. The American club wants to add a player with speed, the ability to make a difference, and international experience, and Werner is the right name.

Messi is said to have recommended Werner to his home club. Inter Miami is rebuilding its front line, especially with some of its older players likely to leave after this season. Therefore, bringing in a striker with experience in Europe is considered a strategic move.

Werner joined Chelsea in the summer of 2020 but did not perform as expected and returned to RB Leipzig in 2022. He was then loaned to Tottenham from January 2024 until the end of the 2024/25 season. Since returning to Leipzig, the German striker has only played once due to injury.

Despite missing the 29-year-old striker, Leipzig have made an impressive start to the season and are currently second in the Bundesliga, eight points behind Bayern Munich.
