Messi's appeal continues to break records.
Messi recently helped Chicago Fire FC achieve a record-breaking attendance of 62,358 people at Soldier Field during their 0-0 draw against Inter Miami on April 14th in the MLS (Major League Soccer). In their next away game against Columbus Crew, the Argentinian star once again helped his opponents break attendance records.

"A major milestone. Thank you to the 60,614 fans who helped us set a new record for home attendance in the team's history. This is also the largest attendance at a sporting event at Huntington Bank Field ever, excluding NFL games. This record is for the entire state of Ohio," Columbus Crew announced on their X social media account.
Columbus Crew previously played at Lower.com Field, which typically has a capacity of just over 20,000 spectators. However, they recently decided to move to Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland, Ohio, which has a capacity of 67,431 spectators, to host Messi and Inter Miami. The team is leveraging Messi's popularity to increase its ticket sales revenue.
In addition, they also took advantage of the huge support from the home crowd to put pressure on Messi and his teammates in the crucial match for the top spot in the MLS Eastern Conference.
However, Columbus Crew's efforts were unsuccessful, as Inter Miami won 1-0 thanks to the only goal scored by young star Benjamin Cremaschi in the 30th minute from a precise cross by Marcelo Weigandt.

During this match, coach Mascherano positioned Messi deeper in Inter Miami's lineup to create opportunities and also to conserve energy. Striker Suarez played for approximately 67 minutes before being substituted.
According to coach Mascherano: "We need fit legs. Suarez has played a lot of minutes, so we brought Telasco in midfield and gave Messi more freedom. We also need to remember that Inter Miami still have another very important game in the middle of this week."
The victory against Columbus Crew makes Inter Miami the only undefeated team in MLS 2025 so far, with 5 wins and 3 draws. With 18 points, they have climbed to the top of the MLS table, overtaking Columbus Crew while still having one game in hand.
However, Inter Miami's next match is crucial, as they travel to Vancouver Whitecaps FC for the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup semi-final at 9:30 AM on April 25th. Therefore, coach Mascherano needs his big stars like Messi and Suarez to be fit and in top form.
