2023 marked a significant milestone for Microsoft as it began applying artificial intelligence (AI). Microsoft started by introducing Bing Chat and received positive feedback. Microsoft integrated these features into Microsoft 365, Microsoft Edge, and Windows, helping many users change the way they use the internet, shop, code, prepare for job interviews, improve gaming skills, and create beautiful documents and images.
Recently, Microsoft took a significant step forward: consolidating all these achievements under one brand name, one experience, called Microsoft Copilot. Users can access this service at http://copilot.microsoft.com/ on any device.
According to Microsoft, this tool has had many positive impacts on users. Data from the company's recent survey shows that Copilot for Microsoft 365 has helped users perform tasks such as searching and writing more efficiently and quickly.
In 2024, Microsoft is committed to bringing more improvements and enhanced features to Copilot to deliver leading-edge AI applications to users. The company has revealed several notable features that it has begun testing and will soon be rolling out to users.
This involves integrating GPT-4 Turbo into Copilot, allowing users to tackle more complex and lengthy tasks with OpenAI's latest model. Additionally, Microsoft has leveraged the power of GPT-4 to launch Deep Search and Multimedia Search capabilities, delivering optimized results for complex topics and providing better image understanding for queries.
Currently, users can request Copilot to generate higher quality and more accurate images thanks to the updated DALL-E 3 model. An on-the-spot text editor for Microsoft Edge users is also under development; users can simply select text from most websites and ask Copilot to rewrite it.
Microsoft is also developing a Code Interpreter feature to help users perform complex tasks such as calculations, encryption, data analysis, and many others more accurately. Currently, Microsoft is gathering feedback from a number of test users and will release this feature in the near future.
Copilot's power can be applied in many areas and in daily life, such as education , travel, suggesting meals for the day, and planning personalized workouts. To help users better understand Copilot's capabilities, they can refer to some suggested tasks, either in Copilot on Bing or directly from the Copilot tab in Windows 11, such as: design and improve activities for elementary school students so they can experience and learn about different types of plants; plan a 4-day trip to Paris and Amsterdam; suggest some low-carb vegetarian dishes for dinner; plan an upper body workout for beginners and at home…
Copilot marks a breakthrough for Microsoft, and with its unique and useful features, it promises to be a powerful AI "assistant" for users in their daily lives and work.
