Microsoft is about to bring major changes to Windows 10 users.

According to MSPowerUser , installing the upcoming Windows 10 update is expected to be much faster than usual, due to Microsoft reducing the size of the operating system updates. Larger updates take longer to download related files, especially if the internet connection is unstable.

Windows 10 update speeds will be improved thanks to a reduction in size.

Specifically, the report indicates that the new cumulative update for Windows 10 differs from previous updates in terms of size. Typically, update packages are around 830 MB, but the upcoming version will be only 650 MB, a 20% reduction. This doesn't mean the updates will install 20% faster; instead, users will notice a significant difference in overall processing time.

This is noteworthy information because previously, Windows updates typically took only a few minutes if the user had a powerful PC and a good internet connection. In the case of low-spec PCs and slow internet connections, the update process could take significantly longer, forcing users to carefully adjust their update schedules to avoid disrupting their work on the computer.

This improvement primarily benefits users with slower-than-average internet connections. The update has been available since April 23rd and will be rolling out to everyone's computers soon. Microsoft is currently researching a method called UPP, which promises to significantly reduce update speeds on Windows 10 and 11 PCs.
