Immediately after the opening ceremony, the Southwest regional qualifying round saw a match between the two home teams, Can Tho University and Nam Can Tho University. The match was dramatic, with three penalty kicks. Ultimately, Can Tho University won 2-1 against Nam Can Tho University, despite a player being sent off and a missed penalty. The Western Vietnam derby between Can Tho University (left) and Nam Can Tho University was very exciting.

Earlier, in the opening match of the Southwest regional qualifiers between Dong Thap University and Cuu Long University, the game also ended in a 0-0 draw, with both teams earning 1 point after the first match.

The Ho Chi Minh City area now has 2 additional play-off slots.

In Group E (Ho Chi Minh City regional qualifiers) yesterday at Ton Duc Thang University stadium, Van Hien University only needed a draw against Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance to secure first place in Group 2 and a ticket to the play-off round. Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance aimed for a win to overtake their direct competitor. A draw would give them 7 points, giving them a good chance of qualifying for the play-off round as the best-performing second-placed team.

The "final" match of Group 2 was exciting, with both teams playing without mercy. Van Hien University asserted their dominance by taking the lead, then securing a 2-0 victory in the final minute of injury time. Winning all three matches, Van Hien University advanced to the play-off round, ready to compete for a spot in the 2025 THACO Student Tournament Finals.

Also yesterday, the Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry team won 3-2 against the Gia Dinh University team, securing first place in Group 3 and a spot in the play-off round with an impressive record of winning all 3 matches. Thus, at this point, the Ho Chi Minh City region has determined 3 teams that have officially secured play-off spots: Ho Chi Minh City University of Physical Education and Sports, Van Hien University, and Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry.

SOUTHEASTERN REGION DETERMINES 2 SEMI-FINAL PAIRS
