Minh Luan: 'I'm eager to get married'

VnExpressVnExpress13/03/2024

Actor Minh Luan, 40 years old, aims to get married this year and hopes to have children soon.

He talked about his life and feelings on his return to the film project "Hai Muoi " after a period of absence from showbiz.

- Why have you been so quiet and inactive in the entertainment industry lately?

- During the pandemic, I went back to live with my family in Dong Thap, ate whatever I wanted, and gained weight uncontrollably, going from 71 kg to 84 kg. When I returned to Ho Chi Minh City for work, I was hesitant to appear in public and didn't dare to take photos, accept film roles, or attend events. I felt pressured about my weight and became stressed. Afterwards, thanks to some guidance and by focusing on researching various methods, I started playing sports like golf and tennis, and ate healthily, which helped me regain my figure.

I also lost my passion for acting after constantly filming for many years, without time to rekindle my emotions. Before, I would sometimes act in three or four TV series a month. The roles were quite similar, lacking breakthroughs or unique characteristics, and didn't give me that satisfying feeling of truly embodying a character. Over time, I realized that if I didn't change, I would fall into a rut, so I stopped acting for a while to observe, listen, and wait for a better opportunity.

This year I'm almost 40, and I need to be more serious and thoughtful about both my career and my love life.

At this age, how concerned are you about marriage?

- Getting married this year is one of my top priorities. My peers are all settled down with families, so I also hope to have a happy home. I talked about marriage with my girlfriend two years ago, but due to various circumstances, we haven't been able to proceed yet. I believe that "flowers will bloom when given enough sunlight," and marriage is the same; it needs to happen at the right time, not rushed.

Even so, at this age, I feel a lot of pressure because my parents and relatives keep asking me about it, especially since I'm an only son. My goal in life is to have a stable family. I don't dare predict the outcome, but I have plenty of determination.

I don't want to share too much about my private life because I'm afraid of negative publicity. In the past, I made the mistake of showing off my happiness in romantic relationships, which unfortunately caused a stir. Now I've learned my lesson and want to protect my current partner.

- How are you preparing for your upcoming marriage?

- I think I'll focus more on family and cut back on work. My business ventures alongside acting are preparation for the future as the breadwinner of the family. I'm planning that if one day my time in the industry ends and I'm no longer interested in acting, I'll still have a source of income to support my wife and children.

Having had many experiences in relationships, I don't demand too much from a future partner. At 30, I was drawn to an intense romance that made me want to conquer it. Now, I choose someone who brings me peace, someone I can talk to and who shares the same vision.

- What are your career and life plans for the future?

- After the pandemic, I struggled with staffing as I downsized my business, from over a dozen stores to just two, which was stressful at times. Then, after some time, director Vu Thanh Vinh approached me, believing I could play the supporting role well – a cunning man with a sophisticated appearance in the film "Hai Muoi ." I liked this project because it inspired me to return to the screen. Currently, I mainly make a living from my perfume and real estate businesses, but acting remains a great source of motivation. No matter what I do, I still enjoy the feeling of standing in front of the camera, living different lives through each character.

I think I'll limit my TV appearances and focus more on film. I'm looking for roles that are different, like villainous characters. I'll also maintain my singing career alongside my acting. I'll be releasing a music video in the borelo genre soon.

I'm content with my current life, so I don't aspire to too much. Every day, I manage my work, record music, exercise, and occasionally travel with loved ones.
