Russia has always been one of Vietnam's key markets for tourism and trade. In 2024, the total number of visitors between the two countries reached over 220,000, a more than 2.3-fold increase compared to 2023, but still only 26% of the 2019 figure. The direct Hanoi-Moscow flight route not only strengthens connectivity but also facilitates the strong recovery of the aviation and tourism industries in both countries.

The resumption of flights not only provides passengers with more convenient and safe travel options with high-quality service, but also promotes bilateral cooperation between the two countries in many fields such as trade, investment, and cultural exchange.

This event also marks a significant milestone in Vietnam Airlines' international flight network development strategy, especially on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam Airlines Corporation.

According to Vietnam Airlines General Director Le Hong Ha, Vietnam Airlines has resumed all its routes and recently opened seven new international routes. Currently, Vietnam Airlines operates flights to over 90 destinations worldwide, including 60 domestic and 30 international destinations, connecting with more than 20 countries. This is coupled with numerous promotional and trade activities showcasing the image of Vietnam and its people to the world.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Airlines, Dang Ngoc Hoa, shared that despite the difficulties, Vietnam Airlines continues to expand its global flight network because it recognizes that wherever Vietnam Airlines aircraft fly, our "soft borders" expand accordingly.

Vietnam Airlines plans to open and restore 15 international routes to key destinations such as Italy, Russia, Denmark, China, India, Japan, South Korea, and the UAE in 2025.
