During the April 30th - May 1st holiday, many plum orchards in Moc Chau offered visitors the opportunity to tour and experience picking plums directly in the orchards. According to some orchard owners, the number of visitors to the orchards was quite high from morning to afternoon.

Visitors to the plum orchards must pay an entrance fee of 40,000 to 50,000 VND, which includes picking and eating plums on the spot in unlimited quantities. The price of plums purchased to take home ranges from 70,000 to 80,000 VND per kilogram. According to some orchard owners, the best time to visit the orchards is from 8 am to 10 am, followed by lunch.

"This is the general price for plums this season, 10,000 to 20,000 VND higher than last year," said Ms. Hai Yen, owner of a plum orchard in Cho Long sub-district, Nong Truong town, adding that when plums are in peak season, services may be discounted.

Bich Hanh plum garden, Truong Anh garden, Ngoc Chau, and Mung Hanh also offered visitors the experience of picking plums on April 30th.

However, Ms. Hai Yen also said that this year's plums ripened late. At this time every year, the plums throughout Moc Chau are already ripe and red. Currently, there are few plums left, and most are still green. The trees that have borne fruit are all off-season plums, small and slightly sour, but not bitter.

"This year is a leap year, so the main plum season will be a month later than usual. In addition, the plum blossoms at the beginning of the year are very beautiful, but due to the frost after Tet, many newly formed fruits have fallen off. The plums won't ripen fully until the end of May," added Ms. Hai Yen.

Quang Kien, a tourism professional in Moc Chau, also said that the plums are currently only in their peak season, and it will be about two more weeks before the plum orchards in Moc Chau are truly in full bloom. Many orchard owners usually provide full services including food, accommodation, and rest at the orchard for tourists.

In summer, Moc Chau is one of the ideal destinations to escape the heat thanks to its cool weather. Besides the peak plum season, visitors to Moc Chau can also enjoy many experiences such as admiring the green tea hills and breathing in the fresh morning air. Currently, the tea plants are sprouting new leaves. Dai Yem Waterfall and Nang Tien Waterfall are also in their most beautiful season with clear, gentle water.
