On the afternoon of October 11th, on the occasion of attending the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and related high-level meetings in Vientiane, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Comrade Bounthong Chitmany, Standing Member of the Secretariat and Vice President of Laos.
The Prime Minister congratulated Laos on successfully assuming the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2024; the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and related meetings were well organized and safe; and Laos did a good job managing the meetings, helping to enhance Laos's position on the international stage.
The Prime Minister emphasized the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, which is unique in the world; he proposed that both sides continue to nurture and educate future generations to further promote the precious sentiments of the two Parties and peoples, considering this an invaluable asset of the two nations that have always stood side by side, sharing joys and sorrows throughout the process of fighting for independence and national development; and to coordinate and support each other in building independent and self-reliant economies, integrating deeply, substantively, and effectively into the international community.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh announced that Vietnam is actively implementing the results of the meeting between the two Politburos in September 2024 and stated that both sides need to continue to improve the exchange of experiences between the two Parties, including human resource training, especially in the context of the two countries preparing for Party congresses at all levels leading up to the National Party Congress.

The Standing Committee of the Party Central Committee and the Vice President of Laos expressed their deep gratitude for the immense, sincere, timely, and effective support and assistance that Vietnam has given to Laos in the cause of national liberation in the past and in the current process of national construction and development, including support and assistance to Laos in completing its ASEAN Chairmanship in 2024.
Comrade Bounthong Chitmany emphasized that the long-standing tradition, forged through difficulties and challenges, and the vital significance and importance of the special Laos-Vietnam relationship are invaluable shared assets of the two nations, a fundamental principle for the existence and development of each country. He stressed that the special meanings and characteristics of the relationship between the two Parties and the two countries need to be instilled in cadres, Party members, and the people, and passed on to the younger generations in both countries.
Highly appreciating the results of the recent meeting between the two Politburos in Hanoi, the two sides exchanged views on the orientations for bilateral cooperation in the coming period. The Standing Committee of the Lao Party Central Committee expressed its admiration for Vietnam's strong socio-economic and foreign relations development, which has contributed to enhancing Vietnam's position on the international stage.

The two leaders expressed their pleasure at the positive results of cooperation in all fields between the two Parties and States in the past period, especially in politics, economy and trade, security and defense, and exchanges on Party building and cadre training.
Against the backdrop of complex developments in the world and the region, both sides agreed to coordinate effectively in implementing high-level agreements, strengthen exchanges and share experiences in formulating policies and implementing national construction and development, focusing on key cooperation projects; and further deepen, strengthen, and enhance the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation.
