Born on February 11, 1949, writer Hoang Viet Quan served as Vice Chairman of the Yen Bai Provincial Association of Literature and Arts from 2005 to 2010 and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Yen Bai Literature and Arts Magazine. His time working and being involved in the local arts and culture movement helped him deeply understand the affection of the people of various ethnic groups for President Ho Chi Minh. For writer Hoang Viet Quan, the image of President Ho Chi Minh always appears simple and familiar, like a father or grandfather in every traditional stilt house.

Writer Hoang Viet Quan's literary career about President Ho Chi Minh spans many years and encompasses a diverse range of genres, from collecting and compiling information to essays, notes, and poetry. One of the significant milestones in his writing career is the work "The Man at the Source," first published in 1995 and reprinted in 2004.

His writings delve into true stories, about how people in the highlands learned from and followed Uncle Ho's teachings to escape poverty and build culturally rich villages. Along with that, the collection of notes "Square Sky of Memories" is the author's own recollection of his journey and writings, including encounters with historical witnesses who had met Uncle Ho in the past.
