Phuong Ninh Primary and Secondary School, built in 1990, has deteriorated.
In Phung Hiep district, Hau Giang province, BASF Chemical Group and its co-sponsors commenced the construction of new classrooms for Phuong Ninh Primary and Secondary School on September 20th.
Located approximately 250 km from Ho Chi Minh City, Phuong Ninh Primary and Secondary School is situated in a remote area of Hau Giang province, where 65% of the households are engaged in agriculture . The old classrooms, built in the 1990s, are currently in a state of disrepair, failing to ensure safety and hygiene for students, especially during the hot and rainy seasons.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the project included the construction of four new classrooms.
Accordingly, the project, which includes four new classrooms with a total area of 256 m² and a 1,000 m² playground, will replace the old, dilapidated classrooms, supporting teaching and learning activities for students and teachers at the school.
The new classrooms will be decorated with BASF's green-certified paint line, made from sustainable materials, contributing to long-term benefits for the school environment, ensuring health, safety, and energy efficiency. The project is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2025 and will provide a safer and more comfortable learning environment for approximately 150 students each school year.
This is the eighth project undertaken by BASF and its partners under the School Construction and School Environment Improvement program coordinated by Saigon Children's Charity CIO.
