Sporx reports that Fenerbahce are leading the race to sign Muller, who will leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season. Jose Mourinho's side are said to have offered Muller a one-year contract, with an option to extend for a further year. At 34, the German striker is still highly regarded for his experience in Europe.
Mourinho highly values Muller's ability and sees him as a suitable piece. The former Chelsea and MU coach wants to sign talented players to replace strikers who may leave next summer such as Dusan Tadic and Edin Dzeko.
Tadic has contributed 11 goals and 15 assists this season, while Dzeko has also made his mark with nine goals and seven assists. Losing both strikers in the same summer would be a huge blow for Fenerbahce.
Muller's ability to join on a free transfer could save Fenerbahce money, but the Turkish club will face stiff competition from clubs in the US and Saudi Arabia.
For now, Muller is focused on helping Bayern compete for trophies in their final season. On April 9, the 34-year-old striker scored the only goal in Bayern's 2-1 defeat to Inter Milan in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals. The two teams will meet again on April 17 in Italy.
