Haeundae Sand Festival

This is an annual art event at Haeundae – one of Busan's most beautiful and famous beaches. Twenty years ago, the first Haeundae Sand Festival was held in this coastal city, leaving a lasting impression, and every year, Busan's beach has become a popular summer destination for Koreans and international tourists. This year, with the theme "Festival Meets Korean Culture," the event celebrates the fusion of traditional and modern culture. The official festival runs from May 16-19, but the public can still view the exhibited artworks on the beach until June 8. Dozens of exquisite sand sculptures created by artists from around the world are sure to offer a unique experience in Busan. The festival is completely free for visitors, but some activities may require a fee.

Busan One Asia Festival

Busan One Asia Festival (commonly known as BOF) is an annual cultural event eagerly anticipated by young people in Korea and internationally. Now in its 9th year, the festival combines various performing arts and diverse cultural experiences, with K-POP being the most prominent. Previously held in October, since 2024, the city government has decided to hold it in June, coinciding with the beach tourism season. This year, BOF will take place from June 11-13, promising an explosive event featuring popular groups such as NCT WISH, ATEEZ, SUPER JUNIOR, WayV, Hearts2Hearts, LUCY, Dragon Pony, and more. Besides the "Big Concerts," there will be many other exciting activities such as talent shows showcasing young musical talents and talk shows about Korean culture with guest experts and famous artists. The fan experience zones will feature various interactive activities, exhibitions, and souvenir stalls.

Busan Sea Festival

Busan, known as the "summer capital" of South Korea, hosts its annual Sea Festival, first held in 1996 to promote tourism at the city's beaches. This year, the 29th Busan Sea Festival will primarily take place at Dadaepo Beach. Other popular beaches such as Haeundae, Gwangalli, Songdo, and Songjeong will also feature exciting activities. The program is scheduled to run until the end of July and will include captivating art performances, a fireworks display, beachside dance parties, K-POP shows, water sports competitions, and beach volleyball.

Drone light show

If your visit to Busan doesn't coincide with any festivals, you can still mark your calendar for one of the city's equally exciting shows: the famous drone light show. This show takes place twice a week, lasting approximately 10-12 minutes each, on Saturday evenings at Gwangalli Beach, right next to Gwangan Bridge. From March to September, the show runs from 8 PM to 10 PM. From October to February, it starts earlier, from 7 PM to 9 PM. This spectacular light show, featuring state-of-the-art technology, will leave a lasting impression on any visitor to Busan.

Busan is not only vibrant during the summer, but the latter months of the year also feature many famous events that have become synonymous with the city, such as: the International Film Festival, Rock Music Festival, Light Festivals at various locations, Christmas festivals, and more.
