Tet gift baskets featuring OCOP products are available at the Mekong Delta Specialty Store.
By the end of 2025, Can Tho City had recognized 895 OCOP products, including 648 3-star products, 242 4-star products, and 5 5-star products. With its favorable geographical location and vibrant trade activities, Can Tho City is also a hub for many OCOP products from other localities in the region. Consumers can find these products in supermarkets, convenience stores, shopping malls, traditional markets, or specialized OCOP product stores. In addition to traditional sales channels, online sales channels (e-commerce platforms, social media) are also actively promoting OCOP products.
The Mekong Delta Specialty Store (located on Dinh Tien Hoang Street, Ninh Kieu Ward) brings together over 300 types of specialties from provinces and cities in the region, with more than 80% being OCOP products. At the Mekong Delta Specialty Store, customers can browse and purchase many renowned OCOP products for Tet (Lunar New Year) such as Rach Goc crab, Ong Cua ST25 rice, Probelife purple rice milk, Cam Phat peanut candy, Mai Anh peeled shrimp paste, Ba Giao Khoe snakehead fish roe paste, Tu Bong pineapple and custard apple jam, Ut Tay wine, Ky Nhu snakehead fish, Long Giang custard apple tea…
Ms. Huynh Thi Kieu Tien, owner of the Mekong Delta Specialty Store, said: “Due to increasingly high market demands, product suppliers are constantly improving the quality and design of their products. Overall, the OCOP (One Commune One Product) products for this year's Tet (Lunar New Year) market are beautiful and eye-catching. OCOP companies and businesses are refreshing their products by launching new product lines or adding labels with apricot blossoms, peach blossoms, firecrackers, and greetings like "peace and prosperity," "may all your wishes come true," etc., implying good fortune and wealth for customers. Currently, the store has prepared many Tet gift baskets to serve consumer needs, especially government agencies and businesses that purchase specialty and OCOP products and combine them into Tet gift baskets for gifting.”
OCOP products are popular with consumers both inside and outside the city because of their quality, flavor, and prices that suit their tastes and budgets. Ms. Huynh Tran Bao Ngoc from An Binh ward said: “During Tet, my family buys dried seafood, dried shrimp, sausages, etc., as gifts for relatives and friends. Previously, these specialties were mainly handmade, with rudimentary packaging and difficult to trace their origins. Now, with the OCOP certification, they have become more refined. The appearance of these specialties is completely different, more beautiful and eye-catching, with clear origins, sources, and production materials, and the product quality has also improved significantly. Therefore, OCOP gifts for relatives and friends during Tet are also more polite and elegant.”
According to business sources, this year the economic situation is difficult, and consumers are tightening their spending, so at this time, the purchasing power of specialty products from the Mekong Delta in general and OCOP products in particular has only increased slightly compared to normal days. OCOP products sold in Can Tho City still maintain stable prices. At the Mekong Delta Specialty Store, the prices of OCOP products such as Dam Doi pre-mixed crab paste are 86,000 VND/500 gram jar, ST25 rice is 193,200 VND/5 kg bag, Ky Nhu snakehead fish crackers are 100,000 VND/200 gram box, Ba Giao Khoe fermented fish sauce is 79,000 VND/400 gram jar, Kim Nhien soursop tea is 197,000 VND/250 gram pack, Thuan Hoa brown rice and red bean flour is 42,000 VND/200 gram pack… Tet gift baskets are priced at around 1 million VND/basket.
With the rise of the clean, green, and safe living trend, both producers and businesses involved in the OCOP program are consciously improving product quality to meet new consumer trends. According to Ms. Huynh Thi Kieu Tien, with the criteria of "delicious and healthy," products sold at the Mekong Delta Specialty Store must be carefully assessed, selected, and purchased to ensure both food safety and distinctive flavor. Furthermore, products prioritize having traceability labels, collective trademarks, and certification marks to create a unique identity in the market.
“Previously, Tet gift baskets focused on grandeur, but now both givers and receivers prioritize quality and safety. Furthermore, environmental friendliness is also highly valued by customers. Currently, all Tet gift baskets at our store are made from materials such as sedge grass, rushes, reeds, and paper… With each gift basket released to the market, the store always wants both the giver and receiver to be satisfied; and the store can retain existing customers and connect with new ones through interaction and feedback from both sides,” shared Ms. Huynh Thi Kieu Tien.
The abundance and diversity of OCOP (One Commune One Product) products in the market create convenience for customers during the upcoming Tet holiday, but also pose a risk of low-quality, unverified, and unsafe food products. Therefore, to buy the right products at the right price, consumers need to choose reputable distribution and sales channels. When purchasing products, pay attention to labels, packaging, and product origin to protect the health of your family, friends, and business partners.
