By promoting the "Teach well, learn well" emulation movement, in recent years, the quality of teaching and learning history in schools in Thuan Chau district has achieved many positive results, contributing to improving the quality of education in the province.

Inspired by her teachers' love for history, Dao Quynh Anh, a 9th-grade student from Ninh Thuan Primary and Secondary School in Muoi Noi commune, chose to pursue history as her subject for review and participation in gifted student competitions, achieving admirable results: two years as a top student at the school level, two years as a consolation prize, and one year as a third-place winner at the former district level. This coming March, Dao Quynh Anh will represent her classmates in the school's gifted student team at the provincial-level gifted student competition.

Speaking about her experience studying history, Dao Quynh Anh shared: "I don't memorize mechanically, but rather learn through understanding and emotion. I often systematize knowledge by period, creating mind maps to see the relationships between events, figures, and historical contexts. When studying, I always ask myself, 'Why did this event happen?', 'What is the significance of this event?' to understand the essence of the issue. Besides that, I also read more books, watch historical documentaries, and relate lessons from the past to life today. Thanks to this, studying history becomes easier, more engaging, and helps me answer questions more confidently and profoundly in exams."

Recognizing that fostering student enthusiasm for learning is a key factor in improving the quality of the subject, teachers directly teaching History at Ninh Thuan Primary and Secondary School regularly innovate teaching methods, promoting the active and proactive participation of students. Teacher Pham Thi Yen shared: "Teaching history is not just about providing facts; teachers are changing their teaching mindset from 'transmitting' to 'guiding understanding,' directing students to answer questions like 'why?', 'what does that mean?', 'how does it impact the present?'. In addition, we actively apply information technology in teaching, designing lessons according to historical narratives; organizing group discussions, allowing students to present their opinions and draw conclusions from historical events."

Thanks to the efforts of both teachers and students, the learning outcomes in History at Ninh Thuan Primary and Secondary School have shown significant improvement. In the 2023-2024 school year, in the district-level excellent student selection exam, the school won 1 second prize, 1 third prize, and 2 consolation prizes. In the 2024-2025 school year, the school won 5 district-level prizes and 3 provincial-level prizes (2 first prizes and 1 third prize), becoming one of the leading schools in Thuan Chau district in terms of the quality of teaching History.

At Tong Le High School in Thuan Chau commune, the school's management board has implemented a comprehensive set of solutions to improve the quality of history teaching, innovate teaching methods, enhance the application of information technology, and effectively utilize teaching equipment and digital learning materials. The school encourages teaching that promotes student engagement, connects lessons with real-world situations, and organizes experiential activities to increase student interest and learning effectiveness. As a result, the learning outcomes in history for both teachers and students have steadily improved.

According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Dep, Vice Principal of Tong Le High School, in the provincial-level excellent student selection exam for History in the 2023-2024 school year, the school won 2 second prizes, 2 third prizes, and 4 consolation prizes. In the 2024-2025 school year, it won 1 first prize, 4 second prizes, 4 third prizes, and 5 consolation prizes. In the 2024-2025 high school graduation exam, the school's average score in History reached 6.57 points; exceeding the provincial average by 0.26 points and the national average by 0.05 points.

For Nguyen Nhat Quynh Anh, a student in class 12A1 at Tong Le High School, History is not only a subject that helps her understand the past better, but also helps her gain a clearer understanding of the present and provides direction for her future. Studying History also helps Quynh Anh develop critical thinking and improve her memory, so she always enjoys and actively participates in gifted student competitions. In the 2024-2025 school year, she won third prize at the provincial-level gifted student competition. Quynh Anh shared: "To study History well, I use methods such as mind mapping; I prioritize understanding, not studying aimlessly but focusing on the core issues; and I learn through images, videos , and stories. Winning third prize is a source of encouragement for me to continue pursuing my passion for History."

The communes in Thuan Chau district currently have 36 secondary and high schools. In the 2024-2025 school year, hundreds of students in the area achieved excellent results in History at all levels. Improving the quality of history teaching in schools in Thuan Chau district has contributed to helping students gain a deeper understanding of the past and origins of the nation, educating them about the preservation and promotion of traditional values, and fostering a sense of responsibility towards their homeland and country.
