Hot and sunny weather blankets Northern Vietnam today.

Maximum temperatures were generally 35-37 degrees Celsius, with some places exceeding 37 degrees Celsius; the lowest relative humidity was generally 45-50%.

From June 3rd to 5th, widespread heatwaves are expected in Northern Vietnam, the area from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang City, and the eastern parts of provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak, with the possibility of continuing in the following days. The natural disaster risk level due to the heatwave is level 1.

Due to the combined effects of intense heat and low humidity, there is a risk of explosions and fires in residential areas due to increased electricity demand, and a risk of forest fires. Furthermore, the heat can cause dehydration in people who are exposed to high temperatures for extended periods.

The meteorological agency notes that the temperature forecast in heatwave reports and the actual perceived temperature outdoors can differ by 2-4 degrees, or even more, depending on surface conditions such as concrete or asphalt.
