The Mai An Tiêm Festival 2026, with the theme "Mai An Tiêm - The Courage and Aspiration of Vietnam," offers visitors new and exciting experiences.
Kicking off this summer, the Sam Son coastal tourist area is buzzing with excitement thanks to the Sam Son Beach Tourism Festival 2026, themed "Sam Son - A Brilliant Aspiration." The meticulously planned program features a large stage, state-of-the-art performance technology, sound and lighting systems, and the participation of many beloved and renowned artists, attracting a large number of locals and tourists. Beyond the opening night, numerous activities such as art performances, food festivals, and sports events will be held to extend the festive atmosphere throughout the summer tourist season.
Following the April 30th - May 1st holiday, the Tropical Carnival at Sun World Sam Son Water Park continued to be an attractive destination for young people. This was a series of diverse artistic events showcasing international cultural colors along with many exciting challenging games. The highlight of the Tropical Carnival series was the dazzling carnival costume performances and vibrant Hawaiian dances from professional dance troupes. Organizing festivals in a modern way, keeping up with experiential trends, has contributed to refreshing Thanh Hoa's beach tourism products, especially for young people and families.
Along with coastal tourist areas, many localities in the province also focus on organizing large-scale cultural events to promote their image and connect tourism. A prime example is the "Cultural Week commemorating the 65th anniversary of the sister-town relationship between Thanh Hoa and Hoi An towns" (held from April 27th to May 1st), which made a significant impact by creating a unique cultural exchange space between the localities. Activities such as exhibitions, traditional art performances, promotion of cuisine , OCOP products, and community tourism within the framework of the event attracted a large number of locals and tourists. This was not just a simple cultural exchange but also opened up opportunities for linking and promoting tourism between localities.
Meanwhile, the Mai An Tiem Festival 2026, themed “Mai An Tiem – The Spirit and Aspiration of Vietnam,” was held for the first time in Nga An commune, demonstrating a new direction in exploiting cultural and historical values for tourism development. Instead of the large-scale organization of previous years, this year's festival was jointly organized by the Mai Family Business Council of Vietnam and Nga An commune. The meticulously staged artistic program, in an epic style, harmoniously combined traditional elements with modern performance technology, bringing together a large number of professional artists, actors, and participants. Notably, the festival placed special emphasis on experiential aspects and its potential for widespread dissemination, aiming to attract tourists and create a highlight for the destination.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Mai Van Quang, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nga An commune, emphasized: The Mai An Tiem Festival is not only a cultural activity, but also an opportunity to promote the image of Nga An commune in particular and Thanh Hoa province in general. From there, it will gradually transform cultural heritage into an important resource serving the development of tourism and socio-economic development of the locality. At the same time, it contributes to the preservation and promotion of the value of the relics associated with sustainable development, contributing to putting Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW of the Politburo on the development of Vietnamese culture into practice.
However, alongside the positive signs, the reality shows that not all festivals make a distinct impression. Meanwhile, what makes a festival attractive is the unique cultural identity of each locality and destination.
According to Mr. Le Xuan Thao, Chairman of the Provincial Tourism Association, for tourism festivals, especially those held in the summer, to truly become attractive products for tourists, it is crucial to upgrade the scale of organization towards professionalism, depth, and connection with local identity. “Events should not only focus on the opening night but should be built into a series of activities, creating more experiential spaces for tourists. In addition, increasing social participation and attracting businesses to participate in organizing is also an important solution to improve the quality of festivals. On the other hand, communication work also needs to be modernized. In reality, many festivals in Thanh Hoa have created a good effect thanks to strong dissemination on social media through short videos, check-in photos, and livestreaming activities. This is currently an effective channel for promoting and reaching tourists, especially young people,” Mr. Thao shared.
Thanh Hoa province has many advantages for developing large-scale summer tourism festivals with diverse products and destinations. The key is to continue innovating in organization, creating more attractive experiential activities, and building summer tourism festivals with their own unique brands. When each event truly becomes a distinctive cultural and tourism destination, it will be an effective way to attract tourists, extend their stay, and elevate the province's position on the national tourism map.
