During an event held in Michigan and broadcast live on September 19 (local time), host and American television star Oprah Winfrey discussed pressing issues with Ms. Harris. "If someone breaks into my house, they will be shot," Harris said, then added, "Perhaps I shouldn't have said that. My staff will handle that later."

“For a long time, some people have held the mistaken view that you can either support the Second Amendment or want to take guns away from everyone. I both support the Second Amendment and want to ban assault weapons,” Harris said.
