Nick Woltemade is set to join Newcastle. |
According to The Athletic , Daily Mail , and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano , negotiations between the two sides have been completed. The deal, worth a total of €80 million, includes €75 million in transfer fees and €5 million in add-ons, making Wolverhampton the most expensive signing in the history of the North East club.
The Daily Mail described it as a "shocking deal" as Newcastle beat out numerous rivals to secure the signature of this promising young player.
The North East club is forced to plan for reinforcements in attack after Callum Wilson left on a free transfer, while their star striker, Alexander Isak, is currently refusing to play due to his desire to move to Liverpool.
Woltemade, 23, has emerged as one of Europe's most promising young strikers. He recently had an impressive Euro U21 campaign with the German national team and followed it up with explosive performances in the Bundesliga 2024/25 season. Playing for Stuttgart, the 1.98m tall forward scored 12 goals in 28 appearances, attracting the attention of several big clubs, including Bayern Munich.
If the deal with Woltemade goes through, Newcastle will not only solve their attacking problems ahead of the new season, but also acquire a promising young striker to build a long-term future with. Regarding Isak, the St James' Park club has stated they will only let him leave if they receive a full €150 million transfer fee. Currently, Liverpool are asking €140 million for the 1998-born player.
