The exhibition introduces and displays 30 color photos taken on glass by Léon Busy during the period from 1915 to 1921, which are the first color photographs of Hanoi. Before the advent of color photographic film (released to the market by Kodak in 1935), this photography technique showed the appearance of a modern Hanoi, while the subjects recorded by Busy showed a Vietnam is both ancient and transitioning towards the twentieth century.
Thereby, the exhibition also helps viewers have a multi-dimensional view of the main public works that have been involved in the process of changing the form and urbanity of Hanoi for a long time, with many details appearing on the frames. This figure shows the spread of Western culture even in the Old Quarter and the living space of Hanoians.
