This was the directive of the Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Vo Van Hung, at the conference summarizing the activities of the industry and trade sector in 2023 and implementing tasks for 2024, which took place this morning, January 23rd. Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung emphasized that, in order to build upon the achievements, the Department of Industry and Trade needs to effectively implement the Quang Tri Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050; the Power Planning VIII; land use planning for each project, along with continuing to attract investment projects.
To develop Quang Tri province into a regional energy hub in Central Vietnam, it is necessary to effectively implement the Provincial Party Committee's Action Program No. 15-CTr/TU, which includes the early completion of the 1,500 MW Hai Lang LNG power plant project; the construction of 500 kV substations and transmission lines; and the continued implementation of unfinished wind power projects.
Focus on establishing major service centers in the province. Strengthen support for business development, while paying more attention to administrative reform. Enhance support for industrial promotion, especially in specific sectors and product introductions.
The report presented at the conference stated that in 2023, the industrial and trade sectors maintained stable growth compared to 2022. Specifically, industrial activity sustained a relatively high growth rate, with the industrial production index increasing by 10.01%.
The energy sector continued to make a significant contribution to the overall growth of the industry and trade sector. Trade and service business activities continued to recover and achieved considerable growth; total retail sales of goods and service revenue reached 30,704 billion VND.
Total import and export turnover reached 600 million USD; total two-way trade through international border gates reached 787 million USD; the average consumer price index increased by 3.41%. Investment promotion efforts were intensified with the determination to build Quang Tri into the energy center of Central Vietnam; to date, 1,090.7 MW of power projects in the province have been connected to the national power grid and are operating commercially.
The key tasks for 2024 are to focus on implementing the National Power Development Plan for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 (Power Plan VIII) in the province; to promote industrial development based on exploiting and developing advantageous sectors such as the energy industry, agricultural, forestry and aquatic product processing industry, supporting industries, textiles and garments... Implementing solutions to reduce power losses, save and use electricity efficiently in production, transmission and distribution.
Focus on investment, technological innovation, and digital transformation in the province's key industries. Strengthen guidance to effectively implement trade promotion programs and e-commerce development programs at the provincial and national levels in 2024.
Attracting businesses to invest and establish logistics service centers and warehousing centers along the East-West Economic Corridor to facilitate two-way goods circulation between ASEAN countries, connecting National Highway 9 with Cua Viet Port, Lao Bao International Border Gate, and La Lay International Border Gate. Actively promoting border trade activities; strengthening state management of trade in the area.
Promote the implementation of comprehensive solutions, along with mechanisms and policies to support production and business activities, improve the investment and business environment, reform administrative procedures, and accelerate the digital transformation process.
On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee awarded the title of "Outstanding Labor Collective" to two collectives. The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee presented certificates of merit to one collective and four individuals for their achievements in their work in 2023.
