Typhoon No. 3, with its devastating power, severely affected Quang Ninh province, including many units belonging to the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industry Group (TKV). However, with steely determination, solidarity, and a strong sense of camaraderie, the miners quickly overcame the storm's aftermath and restored production to normalcy.

Quickly restore production.

In the Cam Pha region, which received electricity early, at 8 PM on September 8th, Quang Hanh Coal Company arranged for water pumping and ventilation, and quickly resumed production. Coal output on September 11th reached over 3,000 tons, while also providing electricity to Duong Huy Coal Company for pumping out water from the mine shafts.

From 8:30 AM on September 9th, Thong Nhat Coal Mine had its power grid restored, and production resumed from the first shift on September 10th. On September 11th, the company produced over 6,210 tons of coal.

Thanks to proactive measures to prevent damage from storms and heavy rains, ensuring the operation of pumping stations with backup power from generator systems, carrying out drainage and ventilation work, and preparing production conditions well, immediately after the power grid was restored on September 10th, Mong Duong Coal Mine resumed normal production with a high labor attendance rate. On September 11th, production reached over 4,200 tons of coal; Khe Cham Coal Mine produced 5,200 tons of coal; Ha Long Coal Mine produced over 5,500 tons of coal. Duong Huy Coal Mine also resumed normal production from September 11th, with coal production reaching nearly 6,000 tons…

For open-pit mining units, Deo Nai - Coc Sau Coal Joint Stock Company - TKV, immediately after the storm passed, from September 8th, quickly addressed the consequences of the storm, focusing on pumping out water from the mine pits with 16 pumping systems at the Deo Nai and Coc Sau pits; Cao Son Coal resumed production from September 8th, addressing the storm's aftermath as it progressed, and on September 11th, the company produced 2,240 tons of coal.

Coal warehousing, screening, processing, and trading units also maintained the stability of their production systems and quickly resumed production. From the morning of September 11th, Cua Ong Coal Sorting Company - TKV organized the transportation of coal from mines in the Cam Pha area and exported the first tons of coal after typhoon No. 3.

At the Northern Coal Trading Joint Stock Company, thanks to effective storm prevention and response measures against Typhoon No. 3 and heavy rain, the Duc Long (Que Vo, Bac Ninh ), Kim Thanh (Kinh Mon, Hai Duong) and Tan Duc (Thuy Nguyen, Hai Phong) coal depots were not significantly affected and have resumed normal production.

At the Gia Duc 02 coal depot (Thuy Nguyen, Hai Phong ), managed by Coalimex, landslides occurred between coal piles. However, the amount of coal washed away was contained within drainage ditches and coal collection pits. Therefore, immediately after the storm ended, the unit proceeded to clear the drainage ditches and recover the washed-away coal from the collection pits.

Maximum support for local authorities and the electricity sector.

As a large enterprise in Quang Ninh with extensive equipment, machinery, and a highly skilled workforce, immediately after the storm subsided, TKV's units mobilized hundreds of officials and workers, working day and night, with dozens of vehicles and trucks, to coordinate with local forces in addressing the aftermath of the storm.

Over 500 officials and workers (mostly from Ha Lam Coal Company), along with 21 cranes, excavators, and trucks, participated in supporting the restoration of the power grid system in the Cam Pha, Hon Gai, Uong Bi - Dong Trieu areas. By 3:00 AM on September 15th, the last remaining coal mining company, Ha Lam Coal Company, had its power grid restored.

In the Ha Long area, the Hon Gai, Nui Beo, Ha Lam, Ha Tu, and Hon Gai Coal Sorting plants quickly dispatched personnel and deployed vehicles and equipment to support the wards in overcoming the consequences, cleaning up the environment, and collecting and processing waste.

From September 8th to 10th, the Quang Ninh Coal Mining Youth Union directed all 29 affiliated Youth Union branches to mobilize over 5,000 young union members to participate in post-typhoon recovery efforts. The TKV Youth Union established 148 youth volunteer teams, with 2,228 young union members participating in accessing damaged areas within the unit and in the locality, coordinating post-typhoon recovery efforts and restoring stable production.

In addition, units under TKV in Quang Ninh province have provided thousands of meals to electricity workers in Quang Ninh and other provinces and cities to support the restoration of the power grid. For example, Ha Lam Coal Company provided over 1,000 meals from September 11-15; Cao Son Coal Company provided over 80 meals per day for electricity workers in Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces from September 17-19; and Thong Nhat, Mao Khe, and Vang Danh Coal Companies also provided hundreds of meals for electricity workers during the days of restoring the power grid.

In addition, to support the provinces and cities affected by Typhoon No. 3, TKV has implemented a support package of 70 billion VND, including 7 billion VND for Quang Ninh province, to overcome the consequences of the typhoon.

Mr. Vu Anh Tuan, Deputy General Director of TKV, said that all the efforts of TKV, its officials and workers demonstrate the responsibility, camaraderie, and mutual support spirit of miners, affirming the close and strong relationship between the coal industry and Quang Ninh province for the development of TKV and the socio-economic development of Quang Ninh province.
