At the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Tuong Lam, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Youth Union and President of the Vietnam Youth Union, stated that in recent years, the youth movement participating in environmental protection has developed strongly, becoming a highlight in the work of the Youth Union and youth activities. Typical programs such as "For a Green Vietnam," the "Anti-Plastic Waste" movement, the "Clean the Sea" campaign, and "Green Sunday" have been widely implemented, creating a significant impact throughout society.
According to statistics for the first six months of 2025, young people nationwide planted nearly 10 million new trees; more than 10,000 "Green Sunday" campaigns were organized, and nearly 20,000 youth environmental protection teams were established. Tens of thousands of environmental training courses were organized, attracting hundreds of thousands of youth union members and young people. More than 6,000 initiatives and creative ideas from young people were applied in practice, bringing practical results in improving the living environment.
The movement goes beyond mere numbers, contributing to the formation of a green lifestyle, spreading the "4R" habits (Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle), encouraging waste sorting at source, sustainable consumption, and responsible behavior towards nature.
To launch "Green Sunday" nationwide, Mr. Nguyen Tuong Lam proposed that 100% of Youth Union branches across the country simultaneously mobilize to carry out activities to clean up the environment, eliminate pollution hotspots, improve the landscape, and build green, clean, and beautiful living spaces in the community.
Youth union branches continue to build and replicate effective models: waste sorting at source, plastic-free communities, bright, green, clean, and beautiful roads, youth nurseries and tree-lined roads; fostering a sense of responsibility towards nature, the community, and future generations; strengthening coordination between the Youth Union and Associations with government at all levels, sectors, businesses, and international organizations to mobilize resources and leverage the combined strength of society in environmental protection…
“Vietnamese youth should not only focus on simple actions but also take the lead in applying science and technology and digital transformation to protect the environment. Every action today, from picking up a piece of trash, planting a tree, clearing a canal, to creating a green technological solution, is a vivid testament to the responsibility of young people towards future generations,” Mr. Nguyen Tuong Lam emphasized.
Along with today's launching ceremony in Hue City, the Central Committee of the Youth Union is simultaneously launching activities to eliminate environmental pollution hotspots nationwide. Provincial and city youth unions will register and organize the elimination of existing environmental pollution hotspots in their localities.
On this occasion, the organizing committee presented 30 gifts to families of war heroes and 20 bicycles to underprivileged students in Hue city.
