The spirit of solidarity in "March at the Border"

During this year's "March Border Month" and Youth Month, in addition to successfully completing assigned tasks, officers and soldiers of the Border Guard Force (BGF) of the province also carried out many meaningful charitable programs and activities, creating a positive impact and building trust among the poor and students with particularly difficult circumstances.

Shelters of love and compassion in border areas

Implementing the "March Border Month" and Youth Month programs this year, the Provincial Border Guard Command coordinated with Khanh Hoa Bird's Nest Beverage Joint Stock Company to sign an agreement and survey for the construction of two houses of compassion for two disadvantaged women members in Cam Loi ward (Cam Ranh city) and Ninh Tho commune (Ninh Hoa town), each house valued at 70 million VND. During construction, officers and soldiers from the Cam Ranh Border Guard Post (Cam Ranh city) and the Ninh Hai Border Guard Post (Ninh Hoa town) provided labor support until the project was completed. The two units also awarded scholarships and gifts to students with particularly difficult circumstances who overcame hardship and excelled in their studies in the areas under the management of the Cam Ranh Border Guard Post and the Ninh Hai Border Guard Post.

Unfortunately, her husband passed away prematurely due to a serious illness, leaving Ms. Dang Thi Thu Thao (Ninh Tho commune) to struggle alone to make a living and raise three young children. Life was difficult, and their small house had deteriorated, but they lacked the means to repair it. When a delegation from two organizations came to survey the area for the construction of a new house, Ms. Thao was overjoyed. “Previously, my husband and I both worked as salt production workers, and life was already difficult. For nearly 10 years since my husband passed away, the burden of supporting the family has fallen on me alone, making things even harder. But thinking about my children, who are so understanding and good students, gives me extra motivation to overcome daily difficulties. Having the organizations come to survey the area for the construction of a new house and to offer encouragement and gifts to the children, my children and I are very happy and grateful,” Ms. Thao shared.

The family of Ms. Vo Thi Bay (residing in Cam Loi ward) is also facing similar difficulties. Her husband, a hired porter, unfortunately suffered a work accident and is no longer able to do heavy work, so the family's livelihood rests mainly on her shoulders, while her two children are still of school age. Recognizing Ms. Bay's particularly difficult circumstances and her cramped, dilapidated living conditions, the Provincial Border Guard Command and Khanh Hoa Bird's Nest Beverage Joint Stock Company conducted a survey to build and donate a house of compassion. According to the plan, the two donated houses will be completed and handed over on Vietnamese Family Day, June 28th, this year.

Many practical activities

The most practical activities during this year's "March Border Month" were the coordination between provincial Border Guard agencies and units and local Party committees and authorities to organize the "National Border Guard Day" program, combined with a review of 10 years of implementing Directive No. 01, dated January 9, 2015, of the Prime Minister on organizing the movement of all citizens participating in protecting national territorial sovereignty and border security in the new situation, 2015-2025. At the same time, agencies and units actively promoted the dissemination of legal education with more than 20 sessions for over 3,000 people in coastal border areas. The content focused on disseminating the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and regulations, the Vietnamese Border Guard Law, legal knowledge about national borders; and the role, potential, and strengths of Vietnam's seas and islands in the cause of national construction and defense...

The Border Guard units of the province have also coordinated with localities, units, businesses, and philanthropists to organize many practical activities for people, fishermen, children, and students in difficult circumstances in the area. Notable examples include donating 650 national flags and over 500 life jackets to fishermen; awarding over 100 scholarships to students who overcome difficulties and excel in their studies; and giving gifts to over 200 students in difficult circumstances, including 50 students sponsored by various units, with a total value of over 500 million VND. In addition, youth organizations within the provincial Border Guard have coordinated with localities to simultaneously launch "Volunteer Saturday," "Green Sunday," and the "Clean the Sea" campaign (Phase 1, 2025). Through these efforts, they organized cleaning and collected tens of tons of garbage along more than 50km of coastline…

Colonel Nguyen Ngai Ha, Deputy Political Commissar of the Provincial Border Guard Command, stated: In implementing the "March Border Month" and Youth Month 2025 programs, alongside professional duties, the Party Committee and the Provincial Border Guard Command have consistently focused on leading and directing border guard posts, with youth and women's organizations playing a key role, to actively participate and coordinate in organizing many practical activities and tasks, demonstrating the pioneering and volunteer spirit of young people. This contributes to strengthening military-civilian solidarity, serving socio -economic development, enhancing national defense and security, and firmly protecting the nation's borders.
