Fishermen strike it rich with anchovy catch.

(Baoquangngai.vn) - In the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year), fishing boats docked full of anchovies. After just one night at sea, many fishing boats earned tens of millions to hundreds of millions of dong.

From early morning, Tinh Ky port ( Quang Ngai City) was bustling. Anchovy fishing boats, after a night at sea, lined up to dock, with bright smiles on the sun-tanned faces of the fishermen.

Anchovies can be seen everywhere in the greenhouse area.

According to fisherman Le Cong Hoang from Anh Vinh village, Tinh Ky commune, since the beginning of the twelfth lunar month, fishing boats operating near the shore have been catching a bountiful amount of anchovies. The catch is better than last year. After just one night at sea, the boats catch 5-13 tons of anchovies. Crew members earn between 800,000 and 1,000,000 VND.

Anchovies cost between 10,000 and 30,000 VND per kilogram, depending on the type.

The women sort and weigh the fish, and traders quickly transport them to market.

Anchovies are brought to the market by small traders, then put into steamers and fish sauce factories.

With anchovy harvest in full swing, the steaming facilities are bustling with activity, steaming and processing anchovies into dried fish.

The trays of steaming hot fish are loaded onto a trolley and taken away to dry in the sun.

Trays of anchovies were spread out to dry in the yard.

At the end of the day, when the fish are dry, the women will collect and pack them.

Approximately 3kg of fresh fish will yield 1kg of dried anchovies. Dried anchovies are sold both domestically and internationally.
