The town of Thach Giam in Tuong Duong district has many narrow, winding inner-city roads, making travel difficult and posing a risk of accidents due to limited visibility. For families living deep within alleys, especially those with ongoing construction projects, this section of road is a nightmare. Because the access is so narrow, they have to use wheelbarrows to transport building materials inside.

To facilitate convenient travel for residents and contribute to a more attractive and clean urban environment, the Party Committee, government, and Fatherland Front of Thach Giam town have mobilized the people to participate in urban beautification, focusing on upgrading and repairing inner-city roads, with the motto "The State and the people work together." This initiative has been enthusiastically supported by residents in all wards and villages.

Accordingly, these days, dozens of households in Neighborhood Group No. 10, Hoa Bac Block, Thach Giam town have voluntarily moved their fences to donate land for road expansion.

While personally demolishing the fence and gate posts of his house with a hammer, Mr. Tran Van Hung, from Neighborhood Group No. 10, Hoa Bac Block, Thach Giam Town, said that the road leading to Neighborhood Group No. 10 is narrow and bumpy, making it only accessible on foot or by motorbike, as cars cannot pass through. Therefore, many families with cars have to park them elsewhere. Because of this, his family volunteered to demolish a fence and gate post, approximately 20 meters long, to move it back about 60 centimeters, widening the road for easier access for everyone.

"Donating a small amount of land to widen the road is not only for myself but also for my children and grandchildren to travel conveniently in the future. Personally, I feel encouraged to contribute for the common good," shared Mr. Tran Van Hung.

Sharing the same sentiment as Mr. Tran Van Hung's family, Ms. Vu Thi Anh Tuyet's family also voluntarily cut down trees and demolished structures to widen the road. Ms. Tuyet happily shared: "Many sections of the road were only a little over 1 meter wide, making travel difficult. Therefore, when we were informed about the policy of donating land to widen and straighten the road, my family immediately supported it. Not only did we donate land, but my family and other families in Neighborhood Group No. 10 also contributed labor and resources to upgrade the road."

“I’m also hiring people to demolish the fence and move it back about 60cm to widen the road. After the demolition, I’ll have to spend money to rebuild it. The labor and materials for rebuilding will cost about 20 million dong. But it’s okay, we might lose a little land and some money, but in return, the people will have easier access and a wider, more beautiful road, which is something worth doing,” said Ms. Hoang Thi Huong from Neighborhood Group No. 10, Hoa Bac Block, Thach Giam Town, excitedly.

In Neighborhood Group No. 10, it's not just Mr. Hung's family, Ms. Tuyet's family, or Ms. Huong's family, but also Ms. Phiu's family, Mr. Diem's family, and others... According to statistics, about 15 households voluntarily donated land to open the road.

According to statistics, since the beginning of 2025, the town has been implementing projects on over 43 inner-city roads and roads leading to production areas. Nearly 2km have been newly constructed and upgraded; 24 households have donated land and contributed funds to purchase sand and gravel (cement provided by the State); and residents have contributed nearly 1,500 days of labor. The total estimated cost is approximately 1.5 billion VND.

Ms. Luong Thi Thanh Ngoc, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thach Giam town, Tuong Duong district, said that with the motto "The State and the people work together," donating land to open roads, contributing labor and resources to build and upgrade roads has become a widespread movement in residential areas throughout the town. Along with donating land for roads, people also contribute labor to clean village roads and alleys; dredge canals; build and repair concrete roads and lighting systems...

The right policies, clear objectives, flexible approaches, and exemplary leadership of cadres and Party members have contributed to the widespread dissemination of the land donation movement for road construction in Thach Giam town (Tuong Duong district). In the near future, these wide, spacious, clean, and beautiful roads will help people travel more conveniently, opening up many opportunities for people to develop their economy and improve their material and spiritual lives.
