Accompanied by the Warehouse Commander, we went down to Sub-Warehouse 44. It was early morning, but the atmosphere was serious and urgent; each officer and technical staff member was focused on inspecting, maintaining, and repairing various types of technical equipment – a seemingly familiar task but one that demands absolute precision and caution. In the cramped space storing the technical equipment, we saw Captain Nguyen Van Toan diligently working with his colleagues to inspect each gun and its technical specifications with meticulous attention to detail. “Technical work requires officers and staff not only responsibility but also dedication. Every gun, every bullet we inspect is connected to the lives of soldiers on the training ground and on the front lines,” Captain Toan shared.
As the Weapons Assistant at Warehouse K76, Comrade Toán and the unit's officers and staff are the "gatekeepers" for the safety and combat readiness of thousands of guns and hundreds of tons of ammunition each year. The silent work of these warehouse soldiers leaves no room for error. A single misplaced detail or incorrect parameter can lead to serious consequences. Therefore, every inspection operation, every stage of storage, synchronization, and maintenance is meticulously guided by Comrade Toán to the technical staff with the utmost scientific approach and responsibility.

From 2023 to the present, Captain Nguyen Van Toan has advised the Party Committee and the unit's command on receiving, storing, and handling a large quantity of weapons and technical equipment, including hundreds of tons of ammunition, thousands of artillery pieces, and tens of thousands of guns. He has also safely handled a large volume of dangerous Category 5 ammunition. All procedures have been followed correctly and with absolute safety, without any technical incidents, making a significant contribution to the completion of combat readiness, exercises, and training tasks of units within the Military Region's armed forces.
In particular, Comrade Toán was a key figure in advising and effectively implementing the "Managing and Exploiting Weapons, Equipment, and Technical Supplies Well, Durablely, Safely, Economically, and Safely in Traffic" campaign within the unit. Not only was he the implementer, but Comrade Toán also directly developed plans, guided the organization of implementation, and monitored and urged the sub-departments to strictly adhere to the regulations on maintenance, repair, and use of technical equipment. He advised the Depot commander on many practical measures such as: promoting the application of software in managing weapons, artillery, and equipment; strengthening propaganda and education among officers and soldiers to raise awareness of proper maintenance and use of technical equipment; organizing assessments of the professional skills of technical personnel; and promptly identifying and addressing shortcomings… As a result, the implementation of the 50-point campaign at Depot K76 has truly gone into depth, creating a clear transformation in awareness and actions throughout the unit.

Beyond his professional duties, Captain Nguyen Van Toan has always been actively researching, exploring, and innovating. He has proposed and successfully implemented three highly applicable technical innovations: "Infantry rifle barrel inspection device," "AK submachine gun magazine deformity correction device," and "Device for separating and pouring grease into various types of artillery barrels." These innovations not only reduce manual labor but also increase productivity and ensure work efficiency. They were approved by the Scientific Council of the Logistics and Technical Department, Warehouse K76, and put into widespread application. According to assessments, the devices improved by Captain Toan have increased labor efficiency by 25 to 30% – an impressive figure reflecting the "dare to think, dare to act" spirit of this young officer.
When asked about the secret to achieving such accomplishments, Captain Toán shared: “I don’t have any big secret. It’s just that every day at work, I always remind myself to do better than yesterday. Only by working with all my heart can I be worthy of the trust that the organization and my colleagues have placed in me.”
With unwavering effort, for three consecutive years (2022, 2023, 2024), Captain Nguyen Van Toan was awarded the title of "Outstanding Soldier at the grassroots level"; and was recognized as a Party member who excellently fulfilled his duties. In December 2024, Comrade Toan was promoted to a higher rank ahead of schedule.
