Speaking to a reporter from Dan Tri newspaper , Mr. Nguyen Xuan Anh, Director of the Institute of Geophysics, said that at approximately 1:20 PM on March 28, an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.3 occurred in Myanmar.
According to Mr. Anh, this earthquake occurred far away, so its impact on our country was weak.
Regarding the cause of the earthquake, the Director of the Institute of Geophysics stated that it was caused by faulting and the accumulation of energy.

"From the beginning of 2025 until now, Vietnam has experienced 73 earthquakes, mainly in Kon Tum province," Mr. Xuan Anh said.
According to the Institute of Geophysics, at approximately 12:56 PM on March 28th, an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.0 occurred in the Kon Plông district, Kon Tum province. The natural disaster risk level is 0.
Some experts believe that earthquakes can be classified into two types: earthquakes of natural origin and earthquakes caused by human activity.
Natural earthquakes are formed by the accumulation of energy generated by tectonic faults or in areas with volcanic eruptions.
Meanwhile, earthquakes can be triggered by human activities such as the construction of reservoirs, hydroelectric dams, mining, nuclear explosions, etc.
