The Hanoi People's Committee has just approved the 1/500 detailed planning of a sports complex covering over 411 hectares (located within the Olympic Sports Urban Area - Subdivision B) in Thuong Tin and Thuong Phuc communes.
This plan aims to concretize the approved zoning plan, forming a regional and international-class sports complex that meets the standards for hosting the Asian Games and the Olympic Games.
In terms of location, the planning area is within the administrative boundaries of Thuong Tin and Thuong Phuc communes, Hanoi City. It is bordered to the north by a planned road with a width of 120m; to the south by the residential area of Thuong Phuc commune; to the east by the residential area of Thuong Phuc commune; and to the west by a planned road with a width of 80m.

Of the total area of over 411 hectares, land for regional-level sports and recreation accounts for nearly 72%. Land for urban-level sports and recreation accounts for approximately 7.4%.
In addition, the project includes 3 commercial and service plots (nearly 12 hectares), land for a hospital and research center (14.4 hectares), a parking lot (15.6 hectares), and public green spaces (4.6 hectares)...
The function of this area is to develop a sports complex with an international-standard stadium, to develop a new southern spatial axis, aiming towards a major urban center in the southern gateway area of the capital.
The City People's Committee assigned representatives of the Vinhomes Joint Stock Company consortium to complete the planning documents, submit them to the Department of Planning and Architecture for confirmation, and publicly announce the planning project to the people. The People's Committees of Thuong Tin and Thuong Phuc communes were assigned to inspect, manage construction, and handle cases of construction violating the planning.
At the heart of the complex is the Trong Dong Stadium, covering an area of over 73.3 hectares and with a seating capacity of approximately 135,000.
On the morning of December 19th, Vingroup simultaneously launched 11 key projects nationwide. Among them, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Olympic Sports Urban Area project in Hanoi was the central event of the program celebrating the groundbreaking, inauguration, and technical opening of projects and works to commemorate the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
