According to Captain Giàng A Súa, the company commander, although Hưng is older than many other soldiers, he is still very sociable with his comrades. Every day, Hưng and his fellow soldiers are very responsible in carrying out training, operating the information switchboard, building the unit, and engaging in agricultural production. In life and in all his work, Hưng has a spirit of helping his comrades complete their tasks.
In late July, the flood situation in the area became complicated, causing heavy losses of life and property for the people in the region, including the people in the border area of Son La province bordering Laos. "The order to go and participate in flood prevention and control, search and rescue is a combat mission, an unspoken command from the heart of every officer and soldier." Upon receiving the assignment to participate in search and rescue operations in Chieng So commune, Hung and his comrades immediately set off.

Upon arriving in Chieng So, the scene of devastation after the flood deeply saddened the soldiers. Hung said he felt immense pity for the people because almost everything they had had been destroyed by the natural disaster: no rice, no clean water, no electricity, crops buried under mud, roads covered with rocks and debris, and schools covered in mud. Not to mention, some of his comrades were assigned to search for missing persons, a situation they were sure would be even more heartbreaking.
Upon arriving in the area, the unit immediately assigned soldiers to clean up the school, go to each house to collect belongings, sanitize homes, clear waterways, and dredge roads. Working continuously in the hot weather, Hung and his comrades sometimes felt exhausted, but they persevered, hoping that the people could quickly stabilize their lives.

That afternoon, Hung was cleaning up in Ban Dua Cat, Chieng So commune, with his comrades and the villagers when he suffered from sunstroke. His comrades and the villagers discovered him and helped him sit down to rest. They gave him lemonade to drink, and he gradually regained his strength. Afterwards, his direct commander, Lieutenant Nguyen Van Thang, and the villagers urged him to go back to his resting place. Hung said his health was temporarily stable and he could continue his duties with his comrades, but Lieutenant Thang "ordered": "There's still a lot of work to do to help the people; you should go back and rest to regain your strength so you can continue your duties tomorrow."
Later, recalling the time he suffered from sunstroke, Hung felt dizzy, lightheaded, his ears were ringing, and his hands and feet trembled so much that he couldn't even hold the cup of water offered by the villagers. At that time, he saw the women and men gathering around to take care of him, and he only vaguely heard whispers: "I've helped you all so much already, now I'm tired, let you take care of me for a little while." Hung was also very surprised that his images and ordinary activities with the people of Chieng So were posted on social media and received such great attention from the community. Hung felt proud and promised himself to strive to maintain the people's trust. He hopes to serve in the Army for a long time to continue contributing to upholding the people's good name.
