Notre Dame Cathedral in Ho Chi Minh City sparkles to welcome Christmas

With less than 20 days left until Christmas and New Year 2025, Notre Dame Cathedral in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City is splendidly decorated, attracting many people to visit and take photos.

In recent days, people in Ho Chi Minh City have been amazed by the brilliant beauty of Notre Dame Cathedral when it is covered with yellow LED lights.

Last weekend, many people flocked to Notre Dame Cathedral to have fun and take pictures with this unique architectural work.

Le Hoang Phuc, a resident of District 4, and his girlfriend checked in at Notre Dame Cathedral. “Last year, there were LED decorations, but not as magnificent as this year. As soon as we heard about it, we took advantage of the weekend to come here and were not disappointed at all,” Phuc shared.

Adults and children from all over came to Notre Dame Cathedral to have fun and take pictures. Many even prepared Christmas accessories to highlight their photos.

Thuy Hien and her friends easily found a good angle for taking photos outside the church, because all four sides and the roof of the church were covered with LED lights. “Just raise the camera and you will have a good angle,” Hien said.

Notre Dame Cathedral is always the highlight of the center of Ho Chi Minh City, especially at Christmas, this place is always brilliant with magnificent decorations.

The two 60m high bell towers, the entire roof and all four sides of Notre Dame Cathedral are covered with 500,000m of LED lights. Last year, the cathedral was also decorated with more than 80,000m of LED lights, mainly on the two bell towers.

The church is still under renovation, so LED lights are installed on scaffolding around the church, the decoration process will be officially completed on the evening of December 5.

The church is still not open to the public. Parishioners can only attend mass on weekends, or in front of the statue of Our Lady of Peace .

The magnificent space of Notre Dame Cathedral attracts the attention of people and tourists when visiting the center of Ho Chi Minh City.

Notre Dame Cathedral has been undergoing restoration since 2017, and is still undergoing repairs and renovations.

Notre Dame Cathedral, located in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, was built in 1877 and completed after 3 years. This unique architectural work was designed by architect J. Bourard, with the cathedral 60.5m high, the zinc tower and bell tower alone account for more than half of the height.
