Multiplying the value of happiness for the people

For the first time, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the Hanoi People's Committee to organize "Vietnam Happy Fest 2025".

The festival is scheduled to take place from December 5 to 7 in the pedestrian area around Hoan Kiem Lake and its vicinity, to affirm that the policies of the Party and State in general and Hanoi in particular always aim at the core goal of people's happiness. This is also an opportunity to honor human values, the spirit of solidarity and the aspiration to build a sustainable happy society that our Party and State have always consistently pursued.

“Happy Vietnam Festival 2025” will bring many cultural and artistic experiences to people and tourists.

Long-term, consistent goals

Throughout the process of building the country, the Party and the State have always advocated taking the happiness and prosperity of the people as the highest goal to strive for. This has been demonstrated throughout the nation's history, from President Ho Chi Minh 's ideology of "Independence - Freedom - Happiness" to the Party's Platform, guidelines and policies during the renovation period. These policies emphasize promoting the people's right to mastery, improving the quality of life and raising the happiness index of the Vietnamese people.

Following that viewpoint, the Political Report of the Executive Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee, term XVII, presented to the 18th Congress of the Hanoi Party Committee, term 2025-2030, included the element of "happiness" in the theme of the Congress. This demonstrates the great determination of the Hanoi Party Committee, term 2025-2030, in improving the quality of people's lives, both materially and spiritually. The draft also emphasizes the central role of people in development, aiming at the comprehensive development of Vietnamese people in terms of intelligence, morality, physical strength, spirit and life skills.

According to the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Van Phong, Hanoi included the happiness index in the Congress Documents to affirm that all the actions of the Party Committee and the Capital Government are aimed at the highest goal of making the people happy, contributing to building the Capital a place worth living and visiting. This is not only the goal of this term, but also a consistent, long-term goal.

Talking about the connotation of “happiness”, Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Hoai Son, Standing Member of the National Assembly’s Committee on Culture and Society, said that the word “happiness” encompasses the entire development policy of our Party and State, demonstrating both synchronicity and consistency, and humanity. The “happiness” index needs to be measured with specific criteria, which are employment, income, social security, welfare, education, health care, environment and culture, etc.

Happy Vietnam Day

Director of the Department of Grassroots Information and External Information (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) Pham Anh Tuan said that from the "Happy Vietnam" media award on human rights, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has now developed it into "Happy Vietnam Festival" to spread positive living values, where happiness is seen from the simplest and most genuine things of daily life. This is not only a cultural and artistic activity but also an opportunity to emphasize human values, love and sharing with the desire to make Hanoi the "destination of happiness", attracting both domestic and international visitors.

“The message of the Festival also lies in the spirit of peace and community cohesion, which has been fostered by the policies of the Party and State to care for the people and foster a stable and humane society. In addition, the program also aims to honor the spirit of solidarity - a value that has helped Vietnamese people overcome many difficulties in the cause of protecting and building the Fatherland,” Mr. Pham Anh Tuan shared.

Designed as a “journey of discovery to happiness”, the “Happy Vietnam Festival” program includes 13 experience points stretching from Le Thai To Street to Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square, recreating beautiful stories of Vietnamese people and perspectives on happiness. People and tourists will be able to participate in a variety of activities: Happy Vietnam Exhibition; digital interactive space; art exhibition areas, creative photo booths; “Happy Tree” to convey wishes; “Happiness Map” connecting the community; sports and media activities “Health is happiness”; experience happy announcer… Each stop is an “emotional rhythm”, aiming to help participants identify and nurture their own happiness.

The highlight of the event will be the joint wedding of 80 couples, symbolizing the nation’s 80-year journey of Independence - Freedom - Happiness. The value of happiness will be multiplied and more meaningful when “Happy Vietnam Festival” also demonstrates the spirit of solidarity and sharing “towards the Central region”.

Mr. Pham Anh Tuan added that, not stopping at a single event, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism aims to build "Happy Vietnam Day" into an annual activity. This is a step that demonstrates a long-term vision in the strategy of cultural development and building a comprehensive Vietnamese person, while contributing to spreading the image of a peaceful, stable and humane country to friends around the world.
