Today, we celebrate the 70th anniversary of Vietnamese Doctors' Day (February 27, 1955 - February 27, 2025). In the excitement and pride of the medical team, the entire Party and people send best wishes and deep gratitude to generations of doctors who have been taking care of people's health day and night.

As President Ho Chi Minh advised 70 years ago: “... Patients entrust their lives to you. The government entrusts you to treat illnesses and maintain the health of our people. That is a very glorious task...”. Carrying out the important and glorious task of “treating illnesses and saving lives”, over the past 70 years, imbued with Uncle Ho’s teaching “A good doctor must be like a mother”, through each historical stage of the country, the team of doctors and medical staff have always upheld medical ethics, strived to overcome difficulties, and excellently fulfilled the task of protecting, caring for, and improving people’s health. From a poor and backward country, with an average life expectancy of only 45 years (in the 1960s), after more than 6 decades, the average life expectancy of Vietnamese people has increased to 74.5 years, higher than many countries with the same per capita income. This result is thanks to the continuous development of the healthcare system and the dedication and contribution of the healthcare staff.
Along with the health sector of the whole country, over the past 70 years, the health sector of Thai Binh has continuously developed, contributing to the socio-economic development of the province and the achievements of the country's medicine. From a small team of a few hundred staff and poor equipment, the health sector of Thai Binh has grown in both staff and technical facilities to meet the increasing health care needs of the people. Currently, Thai Binh is one of the provinces with a highly qualified health workforce, good professional capacity, and the fields of preventive medicine and medical examination and treatment are among the leading provinces in the region.
Having achieved many glorious achievements, the health sector is currently facing many difficulties and challenges. These include the unusual developments of emerging diseases, the rejuvenation and increase of non-communicable diseases, high life expectancy but low number of healthy years... This reality requires the health sector to renew its thinking about the health sector. Health care is not only about examining and treating patients, but more importantly, it is about taking care of people's health to limit diseases, improve health, and prolong life. In addition, in response to the requirements of the 4.0 industrial revolution and the development of modern medicine, medical units and medical staff, in addition to performing their professional duties well and improving medical ethics, need to be more proactive and active in scientific research, innovation, promoting digital transformation, actively contributing to the development of the industry, contributing to the construction of modern medicine, inheriting the advantages of traditional medicine, a health care system suitable to the needs of our people as Uncle Ho wished 70 years ago.
In the emotion and pride, looking back on the past 70 years, we appreciate and remember the contributions of the white-shirted soldiers who sacrificed their lives, youth, and blood for the independence and freedom of the nation, those who sacrificed their lives in peacetime on the silent front to fight for the life, health, and happiness of the people. The entire Party and the entire people believe that with the intelligent mind of a physician and the loving heart of a mother, the Vietnamese medical team will continue to conquer new heights, continue to write the heroic epic in the country's renovation, improve the health and quality of life of the people, meet the requirements of human resource development, nurture a generation of Vietnamese people who are physically strong, mentally beautiful, and intellectually bright, and unite to enter a new era, building a powerful Vietnam.
