Strengthening national solidarity and brotherhood.

On the evening of February 10th, a delegation of Ho Chi Minh City leaders, led by Comrade Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, visited and extended New Year greetings to the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Ho Chi Minh City and presented Certificates of Commendation to the Venerable Thượng tọa (Senior Monks).

On behalf of the Ho Chi Minh City leadership, Comrade Nguyen Phuoc Loc presented Certificates of Commendation from the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to Venerable Thich Thanh Phong, Vice Chairman of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Ho Chi Minh City, Abbot of Vinh Nghiem Pagoda, and Venerable Thich Tam Hai, Member of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Member of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, Editor-in-Chief of Giac Ngo Newspaper, for their outstanding achievements in disseminating information about prominent political events in the city.

Speaking at the visit, Comrade Nguyen Phuoc Loc acknowledged, commended, and highly appreciated the practical contributions of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Ho Chi Minh City and the two Venerable monks.

The comrade emphasized that, looking back over the years at the service direction of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, in every event, every content and action program, the companionship of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Ho Chi Minh City and individuals such as Venerable Thich Thanh Phong and Venerable Thich Tam Hai has always been evident.

In all patriotic emulation campaigns and movements, religious leaders, monks, nuns, and Buddhist followers have actively propagated, mobilized, and organized many meaningful activities. In particular, the Buddhist community has effectively coordinated the implementation of policies for war veterans and social welfare, especially providing health insurance and social assistance to those in difficult circumstances.

Comrade Nguyen Phuoc Loc emphasized that during times of natural disasters, storms, and floods, the spirit of "national solidarity and brotherly love" is strongly disseminated. The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Ho Chi Minh City, along with its dignitaries, has actively mobilized monks, nuns, and Buddhist followers to join forces with the city to provide timely support to affected localities, in line with the spirit of "Ho Chi Minh City together with the whole country, for the whole country."

He affirmed that these concrete actions help to strongly promote national unity; ultimately, all activities are directed towards the goal of better serving the people.

On the occasion of the Lunar New Year, Comrade Nguyen Phuoc Loc wished the two Venerable Monks abundant health and continued dedication to their service programs and contributions to the Buddhist community and the city. He also extended his best wishes to all clergy, monks, nuns, and Buddhist followers for a peaceful and happy new year.

In response, Venerable Thich Thanh Phong expressed his emotion at receiving the attention and high praise from the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City. He stated that this prestigious award is not only for him personally but also a collective achievement of all monks, nuns, and Buddhist followers of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in general, and the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Ho Chi Minh City in particular.

* Later that same day, a delegation of Ho Chi Minh City leaders, led by Comrade Nguyen Phuoc Loc, visited to offer incense and express their profound gratitude for the immense contributions of Comrade Tran Quoc Huong, former Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and former Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission, to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.
