The current weather is intensely hot, and while many people seek refuge from the sun, construction workers and laborers continue to work tirelessly outdoors from morning till evening. Despite the scorching sun, their skin darkening with age, and their clothes drenched in sweat, the hands of the builders steadily lay each brick and smooth each mortar line, as this is a job that demands meticulousness and high precision.

From laying the foundation and erecting the pillars of a house to completing the walls in preparation for roofing, most of the work of plasterers takes place outdoors. The harsh weather conditions today not only wear down their strength but also test the endurance of those in this profession.
Day after day, they persevered in their work. Some have been dedicated to the profession for decades.

Mr. Tran Hoai An (residing in Chau Thanh commune, Tay Ninh province) said that the most difficult time for construction workers is during the hot season. Due to the strenuous nature of the job, construction workers have to use their muscles to work, while the sun is scorching hot, causing constant sweating and rapid exhaustion. There have been many cases of heatstroke and exhaustion, forcing workers to stop working mid-day.

Masons are not picky about projects; wherever there is work, they are ready to go and work hard. Besides building residential houses, masons and laborers also take on road construction, irrigation projects, and community service projects.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung (a construction worker specializing in building single-story houses, residing in Chau Thanh commune, Tay Ninh province) travels more than 20km every day to work on irrigation canal projects in Ninh Dien commune. Mr. Tung says that those who work as construction workers must have a high sense of responsibility and be ready to go anytime, anywhere.

According to Mr. Tung, for residential construction, when building walls or roofing, it's sometimes possible to find shade. However, working on road or irrigation projects requires direct exposure to the sun throughout the construction process. "Those who have been in this profession for many years are usually very hardworking, content with their work, and proud of the meaningful projects they have contributed to. That's what motivates us to continue working in this profession," Mr. Tung confided.

Mr. Le Hoang The, a private contractor and bricklayer who builds single-story houses, residing in Chau Thanh commune, Tay Ninh province, said that he has been involved in the bricklaying profession for over 25 years. Initially, he worked as a laborer, then became a skilled worker, and eventually started his own construction business, but he still maintains his construction work and workforce.

"Working on the construction site is extremely hard, enduring the rain and sun, but the joy comes from creating jobs for many laborers and building beautiful houses and community facilities. That's the motivation and spiritual comfort that has kept me in this profession for decades," Mr. The shared.
The job of a construction worker involves many risks, from facing harsh weather to the dangers of working at heights. But above all, what remains for these workers is the joy of seeing the structures they built with their own hands take shape. That pride is the motivation for them to continue contributing, helping to create a new face for their sun-scorched homeland of Tay Ninh.
