Bustling anchovy season

QNgTV - As the Lunar New Year approaches, thanks to favorable weather, dozens of fishing boats from Quang Ngai province are continuously docking at ports with full catches of anchovies. Stable selling prices mean many fishermen can earn millions of dong per trip.

In the final days of the year, at Tinh Ky fishing port (Tinh Khe commune) and Sa Ky fishing port (Dong Son commune, Quang Ngai province), anchovy fishing boats continuously dock. A bustling and busy atmosphere is present everywhere. Having encountered many schools of anchovies, the boats return with holds full of them.

At Tinh Ky fishing port, the atmosphere is one of urgency and hustle, from scooping fish, transferring them ashore, sorting, weighing, placing them in plastic trays, packing them with ice, and loading them onto trucks… Thousands of batches of fresh anchovies are transported to many places in Da Nang City , Gia Lai, and other locations.

This year, the anchovy fishing season in Quang Ngai started around mid-January and is expected to end in mid-March. On average, each night, each anchovy fishing boat in Quang Ngai can catch 5-7 tons of fish.

The selling price of anchovies ranges from 10,000 to 15,000 VND/kg depending on the quality of the fish. On average, each boat can earn tens of millions of VND per trip catching anchovies. A good harvest and stable prices bring joy to fishermen in Quang Ngai in the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year).
