Ha Giang

Ha Giang is a familiar destination for travel enthusiasts due to its pristine and mysterious natural scenery. Besides the unique rocky plateau, the winding mountain passes embrace towering peaks, with the gentle, emerald-green Nho Que River flowing at their foot, creating a captivating landscape that never ceases to enchant visitors.

As spring arrives, Ha Giang becomes more captivating than ever as various types of peach blossoms burst into bloom, painting the landscape pink – from the cherry blossoms to the late-blooming wild peach blossoms. Peach blossoms bloom in gardens, along the stone fences of the Hmong people, along national highways, and even on the mountain slopes. This vibrant pink hue softens the somber atmosphere of the rocky mountains. And it is this brilliant pink of the peach blossoms that awakens Ha Giang from the gloomy atmosphere of winter.

The rocky plateau is not home to just one symbolic flower of spring; many other flowers bloom in vibrant colors, such as rapeseed flowers and plum blossoms. Extending into March and April is the season when purple bauhinia and kapok flowers burst into bloom. You shouldn't miss the opportunity to conquer and explore this "land of blooming rocks" at the beginning of the year.

Dien Bien

The name Dien Bien immediately brings to mind the glorious Dien Bien Phu victory, "renowned throughout the world and shaking the earth," associated with historical landmarks such as Hill A1, De Castries' Bunker... or Pha Din Pass - one of the "four great mountain passes" of the Northwest region, among the most treacherous roads in Vietnam, loved by backpackers for the majestic beauty of the mountains and forests.

However, if you visit Dien Bien between February and April each year, after the landscape is painted a vibrant red by peach blossoms to welcome the Lunar New Year, you will have a very different experience admiring the hillsides, cliffs, and roads covered in a delicate pinkish-white hue of bauhinia flowers.

Whether growing on dry grassy hills or clinging to steep cliffs, the bauhinia flower possesses an indomitable spirit. Its blossoms unfurl, forming clusters that sway in the wind – this gentle yet captivating natural scenery evokes a sense of wonder and excitement in most visitors. When visiting Dien Bien during this time, almost everyone chooses the bauhinia-lined roads as a stop to capture beautiful photographs.

Besides taking photos with the bauhinia flowers, tourists visiting Dien Bien in March and April can participate in other traditional festivals such as Thanh Ban Phu (commemorating General Hoang Cong Chat), the Water Splashing Festival, the Xen Ban ceremony (a New Year's prayer for peace) of the Thai people, and the Tra Hat ceremony of the Kho Mu people.

When visiting Dien Bien during the bauhinia flower season, in addition to the typical dishes of the Northwest region, don't miss the opportunity to enjoy dishes made from bauhinia flowers, which are deeply rooted in the culinary culture of the Thai ethnic minority.

Dishes such as bauhinia flower salad, stir-fried bauhinia flowers with meat, bauhinia flowers dipped in sour bamboo shoots... are prepared by the locals with characteristic spices, giving them a unique flavor. These delicious dishes made from bauhinia flowers have become a distinctive taste from the mountains and forests, often featured on the spring feast table of the Thai people.

Moc Chau

Famous for its lush red strawberry farms, Moc Chau is also known as a paradise of plum blossoms, apricot blossoms, buckwheat, and mustard flowers. In the days leading up to the Lunar New Year, alongside the blooming apricot and peach blossoms, the Moc Chau plateau (Son La province) becomes an attractive destination thanks to its forests of plum trees bursting with pristine white blossoms.

It's not difficult to find images of young people checking in amidst the dreamy white blossoms of plum trees, interspersed with the yellow and white hues of rapeseed flower fields, and everyone is making plans to visit the lush green highlands of Son La province from January to early March.

Plum blossoms are very common in the mountainous provinces of Northeast and Northwest Vietnam. However, in Moc Chau, plum blossoms don't grow sporadically but cover a very large area; entire hillsides and fields are covered with plum blossoms.

During the plum blossom season, the Moc Chau plateau is almost completely covered in white due to thousands of hectares of plum trees. Every corner, from villages to fields, from national highways to village roads and small alleys, is bathed in white. Moc Chau plum blossoms bloom in dense clusters, their delicate petals embracing the yellow pistil. A gust of wind will carry thousands of petals to the ground.

Whether shrouded in mist or bathed in warm, golden sunshine, the white plum blossoms stand out with vibrant life. Plum blossoms are likened to young maidens in their prime, delicate yet elusive. Walking amidst this breathtaking scenery will make you feel as if you've wandered into a celestial paradise. Therefore, this is also the peak tourist season in Moc Chau, attracting many who want to immerse themselves in its natural beauty.

Da Lat

Known as the city of a thousand flowers, Da Lat is a place where visitors can easily find flowers in every corner. The most anticipated flower season in Da Lat during Tet (Lunar New Year) is probably the cherry blossom season, which begins to bloom in the early days of the new year. The cherry blossom season in Da Lat lasts until March.

That's why people often say that seeing cherry blossoms means Tet (Vietnamese New Year) has arrived in this highland city. During the days when the flowers are in full bloom, from the suburbs to the city center, the color of the blossoms seems to make the whole space gentle and soft.

The city center of Da Lat boasts over 3,000 cherry blossom trees. The combination of charming, quaint wooden houses, delicate blossoms, and the cool Da Lat air creates an incredibly romantic scene. The beauty of the cherry blossoms has become a distinctive feature and a unique tourist attraction of Da Lat.

February and March are the seasons for white bauhinia flowers, a characteristic flower of the Northwest mountainous region. The tiny white blossoms on the trees create an incredibly romantic scene. The delicate, pure white petals resemble snowflakes covering the verdant landscape of the city. Combined with the cool air, the pristine beauty of these flowers makes many visitors feel as if they have wandered into a gentle and refined version of the Northwest region.

Interspersed with the white blossoms of the snowdrop, another flower season in Da Lat brings forth the golden hues of mimosa. Mimosa flowers are yellow like the first rays of sunlight, vibrant but not overly dazzling.

Every year, mimosa trees begin to bloom from the end of November and continue until February or March of the following year. During this season, the road named Mimosa is at its most striking because, alongside the green of the vast pine forest, it is adorned with the proud, shimmering yellow of mimosa flowers.

The end of the season for bauhinia and mimosa flowers is the peak blooming season for jacaranda trees. The jacaranda trees of Da Lat possess a beauty you won't find anywhere else. They bloom profusely in March and April. Many people are so captivated by this flower that they travel to Da Lat just to see the jacaranda blossoms once.

Da Lat is often called the city of sadness. Coincidentally, the purple hues of the flowers in Da Lat's bloom combine with the city's melancholy to create an indescribable feeling of wistfulness. During this time, visitors shouldn't miss the vibrant yellow sunflower gardens, the delicate dandelions, or the uniquely beautiful, large hydrangeas.
