Providing seedling support to farmers.
For the past four years, Ms. Chung Thi Loan, Deputy Head of the Farmers' Association in Khuong My village, has been using her own money to grow rice seedlings to support local farmers. Ms. Loan explained that every planting season, farmers face unfavorable weather conditions, and some newly transplanted rice seedlings are affected by pests and diseases. Therefore, she persuaded Thai Binh Seed Corporation to provide 100 kg of seeds per season, with her family covering the remaining costs.
"The difficulty is that rice seedlings are often scarce because people only sow enough for their actual farming area. Therefore, whenever there is a shortage, it's difficult to get more. So, during the winter-spring season, I hire workers to sow seedlings on my own fields, and then anyone who needs them can come and take them according to their needs to transplant them in time for the season," Ms. Loan said.
Over the past three winter-spring seasons, Ms. Loan has consistently produced rice seeds, maintaining a yield of 300kg per season, enough to sow 50-70 acres of rice fields belonging to residents of Khuong My village and several other villages in Tam Xuan commune, Tam An commune, and Huong Tra ward.
Mr. Vo Cong Hien (Khuong My village) said that during the 2025-2026 winter-spring crop season, both of his two plots of rice fields were completely destroyed after sowing. At that time, he gave up because he was busy taking care of his sick wife who was bedridden. "Luckily, the neighbors took pity on us and had seedlings from Ms. Loan, so everyone helped my family replant the two plots of rice. Thanks to that, we had a good harvest of 6 quintals of dry rice, and I had money to cover my wife's medical expenses," Mr. Hien said.
Besides providing material support, Ms. Loan also guides farmers on techniques for seedling cultivation, rice care, and pest control, contributing to improved production efficiency and reduced investment costs. For the 2026 summer-autumn crop, Ms. Loan will continue to support local farmers with 6 quintals of rice seeds to reduce production costs due to the rising prices of fertilizers and pesticides.
“Currently, my husband and I have purchased three machines – a corn planter, a peanut planter, and a corn kernel separator – to lend to farmers free of charge. We hope these machines will help increase labor productivity, reduce labor costs, and protect the health of our farmer members,” Ms. Loan said.

In Phu Khe village, Ms. Nguyen Thi Trinh is a shining example of perseverance and dedication to the community. With strong willpower, she boldly leased additional land from households that had stopped farming to expand production, contributing to reducing the amount of abandoned farmland and preserving the greenery of her homeland's fields.
Currently, her family cultivates 62 acres of rice fields, and in the recent winter-spring crop alone, they harvested 19 tons of rice. In addition, she also implements a model of raising cattle and buffaloes and growing peanuts on sandy soil…
What is admirable about Ms. Trinh is her kind heart and willingness to share with those facing difficult circumstances. Every year, Ms. Trinh provides 20 to 30 gift packages, each worth 300,000 VND, to elderly people living alone and those in need.
She is also an active member of a local volunteer group, participating in cooking free meals to support patients; actively contributing funds to maintain the zero-cost kitchen, transporting and distributing meals to patients…
"If we can't help them overcome adversity, we can share with them through small gifts to bring more joy to their lives. We hope that, along with government support policies and the help of philanthropists, we can create conditions for poor and lonely households to escape poverty sustainably," Ms. Trinh said.
Mr. Le Van Hiep, Chairman of the Tam Xuan Commune Farmers' Association, said that the commune's Farmers' Association has introduced the best practices of Ms. Chung Thi Loan and Ms. Nguyen Thi Trinh to its branches, aiming to replicate the model of active members contributing to the community.
Currently, the Farmers' Association of the commune is also implementing models such as sponsoring three disadvantaged students who are striving to excel in their studies; implementing organic production models to protect the environment. The association also organizes a program to provide seedlings to support farmer members in renovating their neglected gardens and building model gardens in 2026...
