The joy of the first day of school.

With just over a week left until the official start of the 2025-2026 school year, schools across the province have welcomed students back to school this week. Many welcoming activities have taken place to create a lively and exciting atmosphere, bringing joy to the students, especially those in the first grades of each level.

Besides focusing on professional work and implementing effective teaching and learning, building a "happy school" is a goal that many schools aim for and identify with the implementation right from the beginning of the school year.

Taking your child to school

On August 25th, over 200 first-grade students at An Hao Primary School (Tran Bien Ward) returned to school. Prior to that, on August 23rd, the school held a parent meeting for first-grade students. One of the messages the school conveyed to parents was the hope that on the first day of school, parents would take the time to bring their children to school and participate in activities together, thereby strengthening the bond between parents, teachers, and students.

An Hao Primary School decorated an area for parents and students to "check-in," capturing beautiful and memorable moments of their first day of school. Students watched performances of Vovinam martial arts and modern dance; and participated in games with prizes. After the outdoor activities, students were led by their homeroom teachers to tour the school grounds and functional rooms. Following that, they experienced activities in classrooms dedicated to Math and Science taught in English by foreign teachers; and visited and experienced STEAM and Robotics.

According to Pham Thi Nguyet, Principal of An Hao Primary School: In the 2025-2026 school year, the school will strengthen the teaching of Math and Science in English, with 50% of the time spent learning with foreign teachers and 50% with teachers from the school. This content was recently introduced to parents of first-grade students at the beginning-of-year meeting and received positive feedback, with over 80% of parents registering their children to participate in this program.

By August 28th, students in the remaining grades of An Hao Primary School will return to school. Although there won't be a grand welcome like for first-grade students, they will still participate in games to create a cheerful and exciting atmosphere for the new school year.

Phuoc Tin A Primary School (Phuoc Long ward) also welcomed over 140 first-grade students back to school on August 25th. On this first day of school, students were guided by their homeroom teachers to familiarize themselves with school regulations; how to take care of and use books and notebooks, proper sitting posture, pen grip, etc.

Although it was the first day of school, the students had already been introduced to and toured the school before the end of the 2024-2025 school year. Accordingly, in May 2025, Phuoc Tin A Primary School organized a visit and experience for pre-first graders. During the program, fifth-grade students and teachers greeted the pre-first graders at the school gate. The students listened to the school's management introduce the school, and were guided by teachers on a tour of the school grounds and the music , library, and computer rooms. Because they had visited the school beforehand, the students felt less apprehensive on their first day of the new school year.

For students in the remaining grades of Phuoc Tin A Primary School, the school year will begin on August 28th. During the first few days of school, teachers will guide them in reviewing previously learned material to prepare them for the new school year's curriculum.

Caring for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

To support students from disadvantaged backgrounds, schools are mobilizing benefactors to donate gifts and scholarships. This school year, Le Van Tam Primary School (Long Khanh ward) has over 700 students, the majority of whom are children of working-class families, many of whom come from difficult circumstances. Prior to the start of the school year, the school had already secured 40 gift packages (clothing, books, and stationery) and 6 scholarships for these students.

In Nghia Trung commune, there are 13 schools ranging from preschool to junior high school (including one independent private preschool), many of which have students from disadvantaged backgrounds. To best care for the students and alleviate the burden on parents, the People's Committee of Nghia Trung commune has mobilized donations of educational gifts and scholarships for the children. As of August 24th, the commune has collected 20 bicycles, 50 scholarships (each worth 1 million VND), and many gifts including backpacks and school supplies.

In an effort to support disadvantaged students, Dong Nai Newspaper and Radio & Television organized the "Continuing the Journey to School for Children 2025" program. Accordingly, the unit awarded 60 scholarships (1 million VND/scholarship) and 800 notebooks to disadvantaged students in Thuan Loi and Binh Tan communes; donated 12 bicycles (worth 2 million VND/bicycle) and 25 scholarships (1 million VND/scholarship) to disadvantaged students in Xuan Hoa commune. In the coming time, Dong Nai Newspaper and Radio & Television will continue to award more scholarships and gifts to disadvantaged students in other localities in the province.

During the first week of school, schools will organize classes, disseminate school rules, and provide guidance on necessary skills. Simultaneously, through interaction and exchange, teachers will be able to categorize students to develop teaching plans that match their learning abilities, preparing them for the start of the new school year.

Representatives from the school administration stated that they will continue to solicit donations from benefactors to support students throughout the school year. This initiative will also be supported by local authorities, associations, and social organizations, ensuring that no student is left behind.
