Ninh Thuan grape farmers are busy taking care of and shaping their vineyards to participate in the first beautiful grapevine contest held in Ninh Thuan.
This is one of the activities for tourism and sightseeing during the Ninh Thuan Grape and Wine Festival in 2023, receiving the UNESCO Certificate of Inscription "Cham Pottery Art on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Protection" taking place from June 13-18.6.

To prepare for the competition, farmer Tong Minh Hoang, Phuoc Thuan commune, H.Ninh Phuoc, invested in planting 8 grape varieties combined together on an area, creating a new feature for tourists to visit, take pictures and enjoy fresh grapes right in the garden.
Mr. Dang Kim Cuong, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ninh Thuan province, the locality currently has over 1.200 hectares of vines, planted mainly in the districts of Ninh Phuoc, Ninh Hai, Ninh Son, Thuan Nam and Phan Rang - Thap Cham, supplying the market with about 30.000 tons of fresh grapes each year.
Although accounting for only about 3 - 3,5% of the agricultural land, the annual production value from vines accounts for 20% of the total production value of the crop industry, becoming a key crop in the province's agricultural economic development strategy.
“Besides fresh grape varieties, gardeners are also taking care of Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet… to serve visitors. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ninh Thuan province has coordinated with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, gardeners and localities to have a plan to accurately locate the coordinates of the participating vineyards,” said Mr. Cuong, and said that the organizers had selected 13 points of gardens, cooperatives, and farms with beautiful vineyards to participate in the contest, in which priority was given to vineyards with new grape varieties and high-tech agricultural production.
The highlight of the 2023 Beautiful Vineyard Contest is the experience and evaluation of visitors to the vineyard. The participating growers will make a video, introduce the details of the address, area, grape varieties and pictures of the vineyard, post it on the social networking site established by the contest organizers, call for votes and share from the online community and visitors, the results will be added to the total score.
